TalkTalk Renewal - Pushy Sales

Hi I am an ex-Tiscali Customer with a Broadband + Anytime Talk package. I have just revieved a call from a very pushy sales woman from TalkTalk telling me that I MUST renew my package with them every 18 months (i.e sign up for a further 18 months). If I don't do so then they (talktalk) could put my bill up at anytime. I believe I am on a rolling monthly contract and would have to be given notice of any price change. Any Suggestions / Comments ?

Even if you did renew on an 18m contract, they could still raise prices at any time, just as they can on your present contract. It makes no difference, they just want to lock you in for another 18m. if you're planning on staying anyway, tell them that you need an incentive to make you commit for a further 18m, otherwise you'll remain OOC.
Though personally I wouldn't be tempted...No free lunch, and no free laptop

Most TalkTalk Sales phone calls are recorded.
If you can remember the date / approx time of the call from TalkTalk, it may be possible for them to retrieve the recording and re-educate the sales rep since this sounds like 'sharp' sales tactics to me and I believe that TalkTalk will want to stamp out this type of behaviour from their reps - bad publicity.

Did she have , shall we say, a Bay of Bengal accent. I had one from them in this vain which informed me that if I did not take out a new contract I would find myself without a telephone service (I kid you not). I put a rocket up Talk Talk and immediately switched back to Auntie Beattie. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0 -
I would hope that this was not 'normal TalkTalk' sales behaviour, she certainly didn't want to listen to any thing I said repeatidly saying 'Let Me Finish' and implying that my contract and hence my phone / broadband etc would have to be renewed or it would stop working.
If you enquire about a new package on the TalkTalk web site you are presented with the following statement "18 month contract renewal applies with all TalkTalk packages", so people need to be careful when they change any aspect of their account as they may try and enforce this.
Many thanks for the responses that confirm my thougts.0
