Omg where do you all get the enthusiasm from!!! some one boot me.. i got 2 warzones to clear!!! just not got the guts to go in!!! im scared of whats lurking in their rooms.. it mite bite!

Focus on one thing at a time - do not think that you have to do the whole thing in one go. Start with, say, clothes, then move on to toys. Or start with clearing a path on the floor;)

Mighty oaks, little acorns and all that.

And if it bites - kill it and have it for dinner (how OS is THAT?!!!!):D :D

Take a deep breath and go for it!!!!

Hi, WB! Do you have a timer of any sort. Flylady's recommendation, that's worked for me, is to set it for 15 mins, and do one thing for that length of time. Then do 2 more 15min bursts (on other things) then reward yourself with 15 mins off. Remember, Baby Steps!

LOL! Oh wobblebottom, you are so brave for posting those pics, well done you! My DS bedroom is just about that bad and I have just sent him upstairs with instructions not to show his face until
    1. All dirty clothes are in the washing basket
    2. All the rubbish is in a bin bag
    3. All the dirty pots are downstairs

Only then will it be fit for me to go in and supervise the rest of the tidying up that needs doing. And as I holler at him like a crazy banshee lady I am going to conveniently forget how my mum used to holler at ME about the state of my teenage bedroom :D

Wobblebottom, to be honest i think you have the easiest task, the hardest part is starting, its easier because everything is already out, things will be broked rotten and goodness knows what else making the task easier, sort out clean/dirty washing through dirty down the stairs and deal with it when you go down. Bin everything you don't need isn't useful or you just don't want anymore, if you have a cardboard box put things in you could ebay, the best bit will be hoovering when it all looks lovely and all the clothes are put away

    Best of luck xxx
  • Good luck wobble, I think you need it - but take heart, my DD1 and 3 bedroom looked like the earth had moved yesterday and as i've chucked everything in my room, it looks like that at the moment, but it will end and we will get there! (I hope) bathroom now looks lurrvely and hall is clear, just my bed (everything on it) to sort.

I needed a break for dinner or kids might fade away - they appear to have forgotten that they all possess arms and legs - they are big enough to make something for themselves so I can get on, aren't they? Or maybe I am just mean, they are 12,10 and 8.

Oh well, see you later xx

    :D

DS just came downstairs with all my dishes and he saw some tins of tuna on the side and it went a little bit like this.......
Could you put those away for me please?
Oh leave one out will you?
    Now could you open it?
    And drain it?
Tip it in a bowl while you're there............
Can you get the mayo out?

By which stage he realised he was halfway to making his own lunch :D - he tried the I'm not hungry thing and the trying to walk away thing after every stage but gradually nursed him through making a sodding butty! Lil horror is a lazy bissom but that's because in the past I used to let him be a lazy bissom..................but he will be assimilated, we are the Borg :D

    GO WOBBLEBOTTOM!!! :j :T GO WOBBLEBOTTOM!!! :j :T GO WOBBLEBOTTOM!!! :j :T GO WOBBLEBOTTOM!!! :j :T GO WOBBLEBOTTOM!!! :j :T GO WOBBLEBOTTOM!!! :j :T

I'm so ashamed. I've shut the door on the office hotspot in the hope it will go away and look what Wobblebottom has got to contend with. :o

You are doing great. There's some fab advice here and lots of support. A few tips from me:
    - Enrol help , I think you're doing this with the kids - great as they need to take some responsibility
    - Take out everything that shouldn't be in the room - dirty crockery, dirty clothes, laundry, etc.
    - Take a bin liner and throw / recycle the rubbish including boxes for toys etc.
    - Get a box and throw in all broken toys, then salvage those that can be saved/fixed and toss the rest.
    - Work with kids to sort through and tidy toys - get rid of anything they've outgrown or don't play with
    - Clear the floor and under the bed - this alone will make the room feel better.
    - Make bed then start on cupboards/shelves
    - Do one room at a time and don't take on too much.
    - Reward yourself and the kids once done - pizza, icecream, trip to the cinema/park, etc

FLYboy - Coral Reef is 5 mins away from me so I'm coming to check you out in your speedos! :p
