You could go to a course in Ipswich if you really wanted to. They really don't care. These things are done en masse by computer so there isn't some jobsworth going to be scrutinising your claim unless you draw attention to yourself by phoning them or screwing something up.

Your ticket came from Northamptonshire? They probably don't even know where Knowsley or Bolton are!

Thanks Lumm, I just thought they may think it a bit strange if you didn`t go to the one in your own County especially the people who actually run the courses.

As you say Bolton is not much further then Knowsley. As lum said I don't think they care. However one piece of advise they give you a form at the end saying you have done the course. Keep hold of it a couple of weeks after I done mine I got a letter saying as I hadn't done the course my ticket was being reissued. It was easy to sort just went along to Merseyside Police with my form but god knows what would have happened if I hadn't kept it.
  • Whilst you may not have to declare it to your insurers at the time, when I was shopping around for this year's car insurance, I noticed that some firms were now asking about these for new policies. Worrying.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
  • Expect to see more people get courses in the future as the money from fines goes to government where as money for courses goes to the council.
Nothing to see here, move along.
  • I got flashed by a speed camera recently too... stupidly assumed the road was a 40 and got a letter through saying I was caught doing 37...

Anyways, my course is booked for 1pm today at Bolton Arena.

    The best way to go from Merseyside is the following, and is really easy;

    M62
    M61 (follow North towards Preston)
    Junction 6 (Horwich)

And when you get off at Junction 6 of the M61 you really cannot miss the Bolton Arena, just follow the signs to the Reebok Stadium and you have to pass the Arena which will be on your left. Doddle!

I'm off to get ready now for my wonderful Speed Awareness Experience, Bye Bye !

From Liverpool you would be correct, but not from Southport. If Southport were much further north it would be in Lancashire (or the Irish sea if you want to be pedantic)
  • Ahhh sorry I musn't have read through properly!
Anyway just head for the M61 Southbound then, Junction 6, easy peasy!!

The course is really boring by the way! Did learn one or two things though so it's all good.

Thanks everyone, I`m booked for 29th December at Bolton (there were no dates this side of Christmas I could do) a friend who works in that area has given me directions from Southport to the M61 J8 seems to be a reasonably straight road then down two junctions to the Arena.
