Getting out of Utility Bill Debts (BG/EDF Grants)
Hi Everyone.
Whilst sitting in the CAB this week staring at the wall I noticed a poster for the EDF Energy Trust and how they administered grants to help people get out of debt with their Utility bills.
They are administered by a company called Charis Grants who also administer the British Gas Energy Trust and others (see links below)
Has anyone applied for one of these grants and been sucessful? or does anyone have any knowledge of how they work. I've printed out the form but would like to have some background info before I apply.
Thanks,
Tim

Its not really getting out of them the grants are there to help the poorest.
Fill the form out honestly and then see if they determine that you need help.0 -
Hi All,
Just a quick note to say that I recieved a letter this week saying that nearly £400 is going to be credited to my British Gas account from the British Gas Energy Grant. This now means I am not in debt with them any more.
Just to fill you in - our boiler died on Boxing Day 2005 and we had a 6 month or so wait for a new boiler to be fitted through the Warm Front grant. In that 6 month period we had to use electric heaters, kettles etc which is where the £400 debt came from.
The form is quite simple and the people adminstering the grants are really helpful.
I hope that someone else can be helped as I have been.
