drag link bar drop link bar stabaliser link bar anti roll link bar all verient names for the same part.
the wishbone doesn't come into it, if the track rod end/drag-link came away from the linkage the wheels would end up splaying out, or in if going in reverse at the time.
if it didnt fail its probably ok, the garage may just be erring on the cautious side or touting for a little workBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
As the advisory states "rack end" the I assume they actually mean the track/tie rod. Easy to tie down jack your wheel up and try and turn it left to right if its worn you should feel slight free movement before resistance. It will not be overly worn or it would have been a straight failure. However for what they cost it would be worth changing it. PS don't forget you will need your tracking done once you do it. I would change the rod end as well.
The confusion is some testers list any shaft with a joint on it as a drag-link. without expanding on it.0 -
most of the advice above is pretty sound but the best thing to do is go back to the mot station and ask them to point it out for you, its easy enough to do yourself but then your tracking may be out, so its probably just as wise to ask the garage for a quote. dont bother with ebay for car parts as a motor factors will nearly always be cheaper(steer clear from main agents) and you dont have to wait for deliveryBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Thanks all for helping me out on this. I'm going to go with paddedjohn's suggestion and get the garage that did the MOT to give me a quote for it. Then maybe depending on the price, get another quote from another local garage.

Thanks.
Best plan as he and I pointed out you will probably need your tracking doing anyway.0 -
rather than speculating on what part they actually refer to do as paddedjohn says and go back to testing station and query the advisory and get them to show you the part.
looking at wording it could be the track rod end or the tie rod between track rod end and the rack within boot.0
