  • I have had 12 x 240watt phonosolar panels (6 on each roof) plus two inverters for £11,750.
So £12,000 is not far away

Thats for everything...fully installed etc nothing else to pay
  • no not for that money
you are looking at premium top end modules
to give highest yields and FITs and better warranties
    not middle market like sharp
£12k gets sanyo kyocera solarworld sunpower modules
    with newer high effciency inverters
like sma TL & HF ranges , fronius TL , aurora PVI

They have since come back and said that they will now be using Kyocer KD235GH-2PB panels
  • It's a bit on the pricey side - I'd be expecting to pay around 14k for just under 4kwp. I wonder why they've changed from Sharp to Kyocera - Sharp are made in South Wales - it would be good to support UK employment.....
Target of wind & watertight by Sept 2011 :D

  • By way of example, we have ordered (install next week) 14 Sharp 235W panels (3.29 kwp) with an SMA 3800 inverter for £9,900.
  • Equaliser123 - I'd be interested in the company quoting that for you. Looking for a similar specified system.

    Experience to date - 7 companies quoting/visited.
4 turned up - looked at the roof and nothing else, then produced a table of sizes v's prices.
of the rest - Tescos (aka the Mark Group) did a proper survey but the quote returned is high and the system small, and the only redeeming fact is the tesco vouchers (which fortunately I could use).
next a double glazing company "diversifying" - better price than Tesco along with associated risks of not core business.

The last one I'm waiting for - a local Professional Electrical engineer. He's the only one sizing the job, looking at the cost of the installation and giving a considered quote.

All the rest seem to be saying I should be grateful with an ROI of 8-9% and that's it. My perspective they should be grateful for a contract and a job to do and I don't see why I should pay £6k (or 30%) over the odds !:rotfl:

Most of them were very disengenuous about me getting other competitor quotes too and many actually said "I don't want to waste my time if you have already had several quotes" which suggests a)bad price about to come up and b)there is an unwritten industry cartel of "give the customer a 9% ROI and they will be grateful".

So, having compared the individual parts prices, and given consideration for labour and expertise - Equaliser123 - your price is much nearer what I'd expect to be quoted so please let me know who gave you that. thankyou.
