New Mobile Phone Return/Refund?

Hello, I am in a rather odd situation...

My 18-months contract with T-Mobile has come to an end recently, and I've just took out a new 24-months contract and a phone with T-Mobile through Phones4U store in city high street.

Now I am wondering because of two concurrent accounts, I would have to close down one account. My question is...

1) Would I be charged for the last month of my old contract (rolling)? This is considering that I want to transfer my old number into the new contract, and I will make no use of old contract SIM-card.

2) If I do want to make a return of a new phone contract, would I be able to do so? I've called the customer service at Phones4U, and they were adamant that as I've bought it face-to-face at their store with all the terms and conditions read to me, I would not be eligible for their usual 7-days cooling-off period. Is this true?

Thanks for all the words of wisdom in advance. :)

You will always be charged for 30 days after giving notice. It's up to you if you want to use the allowances or not, ie you can say close the account on XX days (30 days in the future) or close it now and take the months rental in lieu of notice.

If you ask for your PAC code, then you will pay 30 days in lieu of notice and that 30 day period starts the day you use the PAC code. Also remember a PAC code is valid 30 days if you don't use it your contract continues on as before (and you need to give another 30 days notice.

Bear in mind many contract charge a month oin advance and you may have already paid the money.

Unlikely, P4U are quite correct there is no cooling off period in store. You can do it over the phone or internet under the distance selling regulations, but only if the phone is not used.
Some comnpnaies operate a in store cooling off period, but P4U does not appear to be one of them.

You are right inasmuch every contract is a rolling one till you give notice. Have you given notice on the old contract yet? If not, you will be paying till you do.

Don't give notice, though, otherwise you will lose your number - ask for your PAC code then use it as quickly as you get it.

I see one potential problem, though - your old contract is with T-Mobile and so is your new one. PAC codes have to be used between networks, so you may need to get a free sim from another network, PAC code to that one, then PAC code back to T-Mobile if you want to keep your number.

But check with T-Mobile first in case they are prepared to relax this.
