Very helpful, thank you tr3mor, but as you can see I explained the rule clearly in my post and since the OP asked for the recipe, not a list of ingredients, I'm not sure why you said my post was 'rubbish'.

But you can easily post the ingredients, then your own version of the method, eg slice this, mix that, bung in the over for 20 mins.

As long as you don't use her words you're fine!

I don't think you're right. A case for copyright infringement can be made if the 'copy' is:

substantially similar in design, structure or content, to the degree that it can be said that the work was coped or adapted from [the] original, rather than simply a similar idea or concept.

The chances of Gillian McKeith's company making a case against Martin's company over a single recipe are, in reality, very slight, but the rule that Gingham reminded us about has been put in place because Martin needs to manage the risk, however small. Similar rules are enforced on all of the forums I visit - and Gingham is only doing her (unpaid) job in reminding us of the rules. ;)

Thanks mikeywills and annie-c for looking for the recipe for me. it's a shame about the copyright on recipes, especially as recipes usually develop out of others anyway, so hadly any of them are really completely original. Hopefully we can get round it somehow!
  • Not good news popcorn, had a look in her book last night and the sweet potato pizza was a no show.
Obviously something for the new series, with a plan to bring out a new cookbook I dare say. (Does that sound cynical to you?!!
The new book with probably be out by Christmas, have a scan in your local bookstore then..

Mmm, I looked too and was disappointed. I googled and on another forum it said that she used boiled, mashed sweet potato with flour added, and then rolled it out to use as a base.

In that case it's probably the same recipe as ordinary potato pastry

    POTATO PASTRY
    4 OZ MASHED POTATOES
    4 OZ FLOUR
    3 OZ FAT
    SEASONING

Add seasoning to the flour , rub in fat and add the potatoes
Knead firmly , add water to give a firm dough

    Use for hot savoury dishes

    That sounds lovely -thanks!

(Though I'm guessing that fat  may not be in the McKeith version :) )
