Happened me a couple of years back. The oil company sent me letter after letter etc. Wife worked for a solicitor at the time. After several more letters got a letter from the wife's work telling the oil company that if they set foot on our property without consent the police would be called. Solicitor also went on about harrassing my client with numerous threatening letters when I never ordered oil etc.The gate was locked and they never were in touch again. Wish it would happen now as I need a refill of oil!!!
  • And also bill them for the hassle/stress that they caused

How did they force you? And have you had verification of the quantity delivered? Hard luck OP.

delivered oil for ten years..happens all the time dont pay they cant do nout
  • Happened my uncle last winter, they threatened everything under the sun to either get him to pay or get the oil back. They got neither and had to be happy with it, they couldnt prove that they actually put the oil in his tank so it was his word against theirs and the police didnt want to know
  • My understanding is that even if they take the oil out, it would go to waste as it could be potenially contaminated so they can't actually reuse it - I could be wrong though!
Similar happened to us a few years ago, we ordered oil but only ordered 500l, they filled the tank so an extra 300l or so. We agreed on a fair price for the extra since it was their error, got a nice discount. Never happened since though!

For future info..you can buy padlocks to fit oil tanks.Prevents anyone chancing their luck to steal it from you.
Do you have an oil gauge that tells you how much oil is in the tank.If so that might help you to decice whether to buy it or not on this occasion.

The OP was talking about an oil company putting oil in their tank by mistake, not theft of oil. If someone was going to steal it I don't think a padlock on a plastic tank would stop them..........

Any reason for bumping up all these old threads? :)
