Cheap Heating Oil ?

I got a surprise this evening when I arrived home from work - an oil delivery docket for 300 ltrs of heating oil delivered this morning. I hadn't ordered oil nor had my husband so I thought Santa had arrived early. Some chance !
The oil company had delivered 300 ltrs to me in error. I now have two choices - they can pump out 300 ltrs or I can pay for it at a cost of £145 (reduction of approx £20). Should I just padlock the gate and ignore all telephone calls ???

Are you sure this is legit? I know no-one stands beside the oil truck watching the litres tick over but how can you be sure they actually put 300 litres in and that they won't take out more if you don't buy it?

Sorry to be negative but just be careful!

If its not from the company you usually buy oil from, don't let anyone near your tank.

I would agree if I was in your position I would want to pay for it, but only if you are sure what quantity and what type of fuel was put into your tank. If you trust the supplier then yes with maybe a wee bit more discount ;)

I used to get my oil from this supplier but then changed because they were very dear and another local supplier could undercut their price £20/£30 each time so I do trust them. I'll maybe get hubby to phone tomorrow - he can be more persuasive than me.

Call up a few other companies and see what their prices are for that amount. If anyone is cheaper...then ask for "quite a bit" more discount.

And as others say, how can you be sure 300litres were put in? Be careful.

I'd be looking to pay for half price - their cost is a mans time to drive to your house, pump it out drive back to base (yes technically I know he'll probably go elsewhere and deliver it but this is your argument), plus the cost of having the tanker on the road not delivering oil and therefore not making money I'd definitely be looking £100 off the price

assuming you can verify you actually did get 300 litres
