When the Ebac first arrived last weekend, I emailed Ebac to say I noted that quality control label has 10.12.08 on it. Does this mean it is nearly 2 years old?

They replied yesterday to say "As with regards to the Quality Control sticker it is possible that the unit has been stored as a Retailer Unit eg Argos, Focus in our warehouse and due to stock shortages we have converted the unit to send to yourself in order to satisfy outstanding orders on our books, this means the unit will have been unboxed and checked by one of our Production/Quality Staff before being dispatched. The unit should be fully functional as it would have been given a thorough inspection before leaving ourselves."

I assume that is a yes then! I have emailed again for confirmation.

I have also emailed about the noise level.

Also I have operated it for 4 days now and the water tank is only about 50% full and we are still getting condensation on the windows.

Overall not v impressed so far esp given it is a £300 machine.

The best way to get rid of moisture in the air is to use heat in conjunction with a dehum. ie make sure heating is on when the dehum is running, put an electric heater in the room, and keep the windows and vents CLOSED.

You should only be able to hear a gentle humming noise from a domestic dehum.

We have had a Delonghi one for a couple of weeks
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Delonghi-148110002-DeLonghi-Compact-Dehumidifier/dp/B000BP81DW/ref=pd_cp_kh_1

Seems to work really well, we chose this one due to all the reviews on Amazon, has collected lots of water already and the 2L tank has only once filled up to the point it turned off (we tend to empty it morning and night).

I have it on with my washing hanging out today so will let you know if it seems to make a difference with that. It has cleared our windows of condensation which is a problem we had for a long while :)
