Hi all,
We live in small 2 bed flat and have started to have condensation issues on all the windows.
I know this is the cause of the problem but we do dry washing in the flat as we have no place to hang it outside and cannot afford a tumble dryer yet.
We do have all the airvents in the flat open all the time inc the window ones but again this does not cure the problem.
I have been looking at some Dehumidifier units for around £100 but there is so many i am unable to make my mind up.
Can anyone who use one or have used one before recommend a good brand or model for around the price we are looking at above
Also any good or bad points about any you recommend
Many Thanks

I have been looking at this one
De'Longhi DNC65 Compressor Free Compact Dehumidifier

Does anyone know if this will do a 2 bed flat and is this brand any good

We've got a Delonghi DEM10 and it is a little noisy, but easy to use and very effective. The reservoir is only a couple of litres though, so you need to empty it regularly (we empty ours morning and evening). We got it from Argos, think it was around the £100 mark.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

I bought a 6200 direct from Ebac last week which seems to be their top of the range domestic model. It was £294 which was more or less the same price everywhere but buying direct from Ebac meant a free 5 year guarantee.
It is the first dehimidifier I have owned and I am wondering if they are suppose to be as noisy as this one is. Obviously it is hard to describe but it is sufficently noisy that you can hear it sat in the ground floor living room with the door closed when it is positioned in a 1st floor bedroom with the door open!
I know that people talk of the compressor sound like a fridge but it is much louder than the hummming I remember with old fridge and my modern fridge is silent.
Anyone have any experience to share? At this level of noise I think it will be going back.0 -

I've got an Ebac (2650 I think) and as I write it's on the first floor landing. I'm in the downstairs living room with the door open and can't hear it at all. Hope that helps0 -
When the Ebac first arrived last weekend, I emailed Ebac to say I noted that quality control label has 10.12.08 on it. Does this mean it is nearly 2 years old?
They replied yesterday to say "As with regards to the Quality Control sticker it is possible that the unit has been stored as a Retailer Unit eg Argos, Focus in our warehouse and due to stock shortages we have converted the unit to send to yourself in order to satisfy outstanding orders on our books, this means the unit will have been unboxed and checked by one of our Production/Quality Staff before being dispatched. The unit should be fully functional as it would have been given a thorough inspection before leaving ourselves."
I assume that is a yes then! I have emailed again for confirmation.
I have also emailed about the noise level.
Also I have operated it for 4 days now and the water tank is only about 50% full and we are still getting condensation on the windows.
Overall not v impressed so far esp given it is a £300 machine.0 -
Recieved this response back:
"Thank you for your email, yes the unit will be the age of the Quality Control sticker, the unit you have received is a unit which has specifically made for a retailer customer this unit would have been tested before leaving our warehouse for a stock or website order.
If the unit is louder than a fridge freezer than this is not normal we would always state that the unit would take a couple of days for the compressor gas to settle and the unit to obtain settings. It can take anywhere up to 6 - 8 weeks for a dehumidifier to reduce the humidity level in the home, if the unit is collecting water it is working. You can speed up the process of the collection of water by running the unit on continious. However if you are experiencing further problems please feel free to contact a member of our dedicated Aftersales Team on 0845 634 9899."
I called them. They asked me to hold the phone near it and then said "it sounds like an aircraft taking off!" :rotfl:Collecting this one and supplying a replacement. Let's hope that's better.0 -
I have an Amcor compressor based dehumidifier and this dessicant based one.
This one is much more quiet.

After recently purchasing a desiccant type to replace a broken Amcor compressor type I'd recommend a desiccant one. It collects water much faster than the old Amcor.0

Hi,
Not heard of this brand before but just looked them up on there site and they seem very good for what you get.
Do you just have one of these units for your whole house.
Does it stop condinsation on all windows
