  • it's a 1979 capri, so it's not quite that easy

But it is, I had a 2.8 capri and someone broke in and pinched the glove box lid. i didn't realise it but they can use the lock in the lid to create another key and steal the car another time.

i was told there were people driving round with a big bunch of keys waiting for the certain cars to be parked somewhere quiet.

mine disappeared new years eve 1986 when i was at a party.
  • I had a pad lock key that used to open old MK2 Cavaliers when I was a kid. I found it really funny at the time! :D
  • well i went and collected it today, i asked nicely if there was a chance of a discount, but they said the service was free, for the trouble they had caused

i gave them 20 quid and told them to have a drink on me, it's good to see old fashioned service isn't totaly dead yet :T :T :T :T

Do name and, erm, antishame the garage. :D Won't have cost them too much to replace the locks because there's no immobiliser or c/l to mess around with.

Friend of my dad's used to have the last model cav (mk2?) and he liked messing around with electronics and things. Anyway he took his ignition apart and put it back together for some reason and this caused ANY key to start the car!

Hmm, you lot have given me some ideas. :p

    Sounds a good garage.

If its a 1979 Capri then its even easier! No programming or anything to worry about. This is nothing that a good locksmith can't sort out, on the other hand changing the locks is probably not too difficult either as again no programming to worry about.
