Sustainable Food Hampers
(from: RichGiving: Give for the future)
Put together a hamper of organic, natural and/or fair trade goodies. These can be as small or as large as you like, and can be a mix of foods or 'themed' - for example, a bag of fair trade coffee and some organic cookies or chocolate.

Put together a Friendship Survival Kit (from link # 5) for my friend's stocking filler but obviously, didn't have the US sweeties of "Lifesavers" or "Hershey Hugs n Kisses". I've put them in a small gift bag which I've made from scraps of fabric I had.

Still on my 'To Do' list are:-

~ The Teen Boys Gift Basket (from link #4)
    ~ Popcorn & Movie Basket (link #3)
    ~ A tea basket (link # 3) with a Bikini Dishcloth
~ Bath Basket (link # 3) but with Reindeer (made from soap and flannel) in the centre

Anyone else putting together a basket/gifts from those links?

Don't know if I'll follow the baskets 100% but there is some great inspiration in there!!!!

I've certainly added a few of them to my favourites ;)

I do love all the love and thoughts that has been put into these presents :)

Thanks for this OP - some good ideas there, especially like the Survival Kits :)
  • Silly question, but if I make gingerbread, won't it go stale? I wanted to make them for a few people, but when should I make them?
  • Thanks for all the ideas probably wont get round to doing them for this xmas because i know what most of my presents are but have saved all the links and can make a start in january for next year and hopefully save some money xxxx

No such thing as a "silly" question Katie, if you don't know, then of course you should ask - how else will we learn something new :):):)

You can freeze gingerbread :D You can make them all now (gingerbread men/hearts/whatever) cook as usual, freeze. Thaw for between 2 -4 hrs (depending the type of gingerbread you have made); package and gift :D

Frogling - those "survival kits" have got me out of a tight squeeze many a time over the years since I've been on the internet! Even teachers have had them, ... made up some "Christmas Survival Kits" and "Reindeer Foods" for the Infants school Christmas Fayre one year ... sold like hotcakes! My only disappointment was that I couldn't find the original webpage that I printed off 7yrs ago because that was an easier webpage/format and none of this having to open seperate windows for each and every item - simply scroll down alphabetically! Oh well, times change I suppose, but the ideas are good to go!! :D

Okay, I'm probably being a bit of a thickie now, but where do I find the reindeer food? I'm helping out at a children's charity sale in a couple of weeks, so am going to make some survival kits up, and some reindeer food too if I can find the link! Help me please lol!

You make it :D:D:D It's called Magic Reindeer Food :)

Hot Tip: When you cast it ... face down wind!!
(Sounds pretty obvious, I know, but the year I put a satchet of it in with all Christmas cards to people who had young children, that particular Christmas Eve was *very* windy and one of the mum's, holding toddler in arms, chanting and casting ... ended up with it all down her front and in toddlers hair :rotfl: :o )

If you are going to make some up for Fayre's or to put into Christmas cards for l'il one's, make up a bowlful and get some of those teeny 'wage' sized envelopes to put it into. Print off labels off your computer (or hand write them) and seal the mini envelopes with the label. Looks really cute and quite professional. "It's all in the presentation" ;)
