Life insurance - price comparison sites

Are the fee based comparison sites value for money? I ask because there are a few that take a fee but keep half if the insurance does not go through for whatever reason - and there are quite a few that don't go through.

The other question is how can a money saving website recommend such websites knowing that the applicant could lose half of the fee if they change their mind - for whatever reason. Martin, should you really be promoting these types of websites. My understanding is that the life assurance part of financial services is outside of the retail distribution review. Let the market dictate the price and not the fee.

    Hi Lordhaldon

There are two threads where your question was debated, very recently. I'm not sure how to add the links in here, but perhaps dunstonh can?
