Desire HD problem
Got my desire HD about 2 weeks ago.
Phone is fantastic, though I do have a little problem with it.
It re-boots itself from time to time for no apparent reason?
Also, when I speak to someone on a phone call, as soon as the call is terminated, my phone switches itself off and won't turnback on again until I take the battery out and then put it back in??
Got it from mobilephonesdirect, on o2.
Who do i contact about the problem? Htc?
Thanks in advance guys, Mark.

Try doing a hard reset on the device backup information first there are apps on the androidmarket that let you do this then do a hardreset.
I believe you take the battery out reinsert it hold down voloume down and on button and choose clear storage.0 -
Thanks for that, I'll try it.0

Okay, tried the hard reset and it hasn't worked.
When I dial in a number, as soon as i press "call" the screen goas blank and no buttons work, yet I can still talk to whoever I'm calling?
Very strange!0 -
A relative has a plain desire, and it starts rebooting after he been using 3G data or navigation for about 5mins. It never did it with Android 2.1, only since upgrade to 2.2. When it starts rebooting the phone feels warm, so it maybe a overheating problem. If you do a google search they are several people with the same fault.0

What Network you with?
See if there's any updates for the firmware.
From the home screen press "Menu"
Then "Settings"
Scroll down to "About Phone"
Then press "System software updates"
Then "Check Now"
The new Software number should be "1.32.405.6."Laters

I'm not sure what HTC has in the way of customer services, but I'd try to contact them, failing that I'd contact mobilephonesdirect as that's who you got the phone from. I really doubt O2 will be able to help as they don't seem to offer the HTC Desire HD (I hope they do some time as it's almost time to upgrade!) so they're unlikely to have much in the way of support information for it or OTA updates.0

I've used HTC support, their Email support is not too bad.
Might take 12h-18h for a reply, depends where in the world the support emails go to...Laters

It's not the proximity sensor, I can hold the phone away from me, press "call" to call someone and the phone instantly goes off. I can still hear the call being made.
And I tried to update the firmware like you said, but there was no updates, so I guess I've got the latest stuff.
Thanks for the suggestions guys, really appreciate it. I'll email HTC now and see how I go.
I'll let you know, cheers.0 -
Right, problem solved!!!!
I googled "htc desire HD problems" and clicked on a thread on "phonesreview.co.uk". People were having the same problem.
Someone said to blow quite hard on the right hand side of the earpiece grill. I ignored an obviously stupid piece of advice.
Someone further down the thread said they tried it and it worked. I thought "what the hell" and gave it a go, feeling stupid all the while for being so easily duped.
It frickin' WORKED!
Phone is working perfectly now, apparently it's nothing more than dust in the sensor.
Thanks again all for your help and suggestions, I love this forum!
