If the problem was from the meter to the house side you could call your gas supplier. They will have a procedure for dealing with these situations.I used to work for Centrica (BG) and i know that if they had a customer who was elderly without gas they should have someone there within about 12 hours. If she is at BG i know some people at BG who may be able to help get it ressolved. PM me if you need help.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0

Our gas was turned off by National Grid / Transco because of a suspected leak and an isolation valve was fitted to the meter so we couldn't just turn it back on... We were told that when the work was complete on the boiler (where the problem was), the gas man doing the boiler work would be able to remove the isolation valve at the same time. This he couldn't do, because the Transco man had fitted it incorrectly so he advised us to call Transco!
Transco said it wasn't their problem (even though they fitted it!) and that they wouldn't be sending out anyone to resolve it, we had to call our gas suppliers (british gas in our case) to do it.
We called British Gas and they said they would send someone out to do it... guess what.... IT WAS THE SAME TRANSCO MAN WHO FITTED IT!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Good luck! ...I would start by calling your Nan's gas company as British Gas came out to us within a matter of hours. If you don't want to know my opinion, don't ask for it!0 -

We had our gas supply interrupted a while ago (54 days  )
I kept ringing National Grid and was getting nowhere, I then contacted the above and things moved very quickly from then on. They have to investigate and they were really helpful. We got £1000 compensation too.
Good luck and hope you Nan gets her supply back soon.

Its not a National Gas problem as it's after the meter. Its up to the owner to mantain the pipes after the meter. If there is a leak then National gas will come out and make it safe but thats about itFiliss0
