My nan has no gas after it was turned off after leak - who do we speak to?

My mum has called this morning to tell me that my Nan has been without Gas since Saturday. She has tried to call the company who was dealing with it because my Nan (who is 77) can't hear on the phone and they tell mum they are calling her back but no-one does. Nan does not have a microwave that is working properly and (from what I gather) just a rotisserie type thing to cook on so she can't have a proper meal. Neither does she have any heating.
It was found she had a gas leak a few weeks back so they turned off the gas and then told her thay had to come and fit the gas pipes externally and move them from behind the walls. My nan told them she was going to be away on the day that they originally wanted to do it as she had a holiday booked and arranged for them to come the day after she got back which meant them waiting an extr 4 days, this was on the Saturday, and they came and the pipes were done. They have not turned the gas back on though.
Mum is under the impression they were 'being funny' because nan could not make the first date but I said either way they should not be leaving a 77 year old woman without any cooking or heating facilities. Mum is having to call in every day and all they say is that they'll call her back - but they don't. She has left her work and mobile number but no-one calls. She is going to call today and ask to speak to a supervisor but I have told mum that today has to be the last day she is calling them and something else obviously needs to be done. She needs to get it sorted out today and the gas back on as this is an unacceptable length of time for her to be without her primary fuel supply.
What I need to know is who we go to now. Nan does not live around here so we are doing this by distance but is the next step energywatch if the gas company will not sort it out and turn the gas back on. I am not 100% sure of the gas company she is trying to call. Maybe EDF? My nan is not in any arrears with her gas bill, it is not for this reason. Please can someone tell me who we go to if the gas is not back on today. Many thanks.

Where was the leak Before or after the meter. If it after then no one will come out you will have to get a corgi person to come and fix it. If its before Call transco as said above and they will direct you towards the people who own the gas line in the areaFiliss0

I think the leak was after the meter. I never thought of Transco so will speak to mum later and get her to ring them as her next move. She is in local authority housing, would this make any difference? I guess they should be sorting it out as she doesn't usually have to pay for maintenaince of the house. I wonder if they could sort it out. Thanks for the advice I'll get this sorted today.0

You cant call Transco as they dont exist you need to call National Grid as i mentioned

If its in the house, the landlord, i.e the council, is always responsible for fixing it, unless it was caused by deliberate damage.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

I know that but unless people know about all the changes then its easyer to call them transco as everyone knows who they are.
As it after the meter they will do nothing anyway. Call the Housing people they need to send there gas fitters out to sort it.Filiss0 -
Have you checked the gas has been turned back on in the house. There will be a lever near the meter to turn the gas supply on/off (akin to the stopcock for water).0

Very bad idea without checking first. By all means have a look but dont touch it until you know the problem has been fixed. I would of thought the meter would have been capped or locked if there was a leakFiliss0 -
If there was/is a problem the lever should have a big notice attached to it.0

We had our gas supply interrupted a while ago (54 days  )
I kept ringing National Grid and was getting nowhere, I then contacted the above and things moved very quickly from then on. They have to investigate and they were really helpful. We got £1000 compensation too.
Good luck and hope you Nan gets her supply back soon.
