thanks - i'm more annoyed that the police had the lights on and werent actually responding to an incident and after witnessing my bump they gave me a 7 day producer. AND let me drive the car a short distance home..

Hang on. Country lane with side roads? You should have been prepared for someone pulling out and the driver in front slamming on the anchors. You hitting then proves you were driving too close.

As for your mot invalidating insurance - depends on the insurer. What do your policy docs say?
I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

    Ignore this.

Irrespective of what your policy says, not having an MOT does NOT invalidate your insurance.

  • i didnt think i was that close to be honest - but i guess i cant dispute that. i definately dont intend to drive the car.
my point is i cant get tax without insurance and mot so if the mot runs out why would the insurance company not notify you that it had and would render it void if it was THAT important. sorry a naive female driver!

Don't worry about the MOT (as far as your insurance is concerned).

You do need one now before you drive, and it may be the damage you have sustained would mean it failing an MOT until the repairs are completed.
  • Should i admit to the insurance company straight away that MOT has lapsed?
    i havent phoned them yet..

because they don't know and neither do they care because, once again, lack of MOT (or tax) does not invalidate insurance

No need to mention it. Cross the bridge when you come to it. (Which insurer are you with)

    Do you have comprehensive insurance?
