Hi - I'm looking for a plug in oil filled heater that we can leave on overnight in the nursery, that has an auto shut off when the room reaches a set temperature. Also, we'd like it to be energy efficient! Can anyone recommend such a wonder product?

By 'auto shut off', I presume you mean a thermostat-plenty of those around, it's hardly a recent innovation.
All electric heaters are the same efficiency-100%.

A small oil filled radiator costing £20 or so will have a thermostat that will maintain the room at a set temperature.

But if it's a large room which loses heat quickly it will never turn off as a small heater won't produce enough heat to maintain a high enough temperature.

Thanks all - the electric heaters I've had in the past don't have the auto shut off functionality so I wasn't sure if it was a standard thing now. The room is pretty small so should heat up pretty quickly.

I will have a look around!

It's not auto shut off-it's a thermostat. When the temp drops below the set level it will switch back on again. Is that what you are looking for? If so you want to ask for a thermostatically controlled radiator or convector heater.

Thanks - that's precisely the one I was just looking at, only to find that it's out of stock in all the Argos branches near me! :(

The Argos one was probably a limited quantity offer, one per branch I expect. Far too cheap.

    700W for £24.97
    1.5kW for £34.97

I have never understood what's so great about oil filled.
What's wrong with a fan heater?
The fan is useful for the summer.

I can't leave a fan heater on all night. Plus oil filled is the most energy efficient! Just looked at the Tesco one, I think that's the best alternative to the Argos one.

Yes you can, because a lot of fan heaters can be bought with a thermostat. Though of course it wil be noisier when running.
Oil filled is not more efficient-all electric heaters are the same efficiency and (if the same rating) will cost the same to run.
