The price of Ink Cartridges
Comments

Canon printers are pretty good - BUT - they are now making their cartridges so complex that it is difficult for other manufacturers to clone them at a sensible price.
I have a Canon Pixma with the print heads in the cartridge, they are a ridiculous price from Canon - no clones available. I refill the cartridges myself and buy new Canon cartridges every 5 or 6 refills. Works well and keeps the overall cost down to a sensible level.0 -
I've started ordering mine from PC World online, and they can be upto half price. You can pick them up in a store or have then delivered for free if you're getting anything else (over £50 I think). Failing that, do you have a CartridgeWorld nearby? They're supposed to be good at refilling them.0

I could be unlucky but I will never use cartridge world again ... I got a bad catridge from them and my old printer was never the same again ... in the end I had to replace itmiss_lisalou wrote:Failing that, do you have a CartridgeWorld nearby? They're supposed to be good at refilling them.

I have an hp printer and I must say it has the best quality printing I have ever had but the carts are very expensive. ( 28 & 45 carts)
I have found that the cheapest place to buy them is ebay but I have had great results from refilling them. I tend to refill until the print quality reduces.0 -
my bf has one of the newish epson printers that have 6 cartridges and he buys his from a place called scan, not the official epson ones, but he's never had any trouble with them and he prints out photographs and all sorts.
If you buy from them they do have a pretty dear delivery cost, but if you get as many cartridges as you can before the delivery charge rises again, then it's a good deal https://www.scan.co.uk if you wanna have a look
I'm cheap, i only need 2 cartridges, i have a simple printer0 -

I have an Epson R200 which comes with 6 cartrdiges ... last time I replaced them I got two full sets plus 2 spare black cartridges for about £25 inc P&P from ChoiceStationary.

I use the same company - they were recommended to me by a colleague and have found them reasonable on prices (although I thought they were called Choice Stationery)Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -
I have a HP printer and its brilliant and I don't find the inks expensive at all even HP originals.
When I brought my printer they did two models which had the same style case but one had aluminium casing and was more expensive, I thought this was the only difference at first but I found out that the more expensive one took both low and high capacity cartridges whereas the cheaper one only took the lower capacity cartridges.
I now get twin packs of HP originals off ebay, when I first got the printer they were around £30 for a colour twin pack or £25 for black (which still worked out cheap then) but now prices are around £21 for colour and £18 for black for 2 cartridges. It is much cheaper on ebay though John Lewis sell colour twin packs for £50 and even 1 cartridge is more than the price I pay for 2 on ebay. The cartridges last ages for the high capacity ones much longer than the low capacity ones that came with the printer. I had an Epson r200 before this and the ink heads got blocked and I think this was down to me using non original cartridges and I still don't think it worked out as cheap as my HP does now.
Its worth looking into paying more for the printer in the first place and having cheaper printing costs in the long run.0 -

Got a Canon Pixma 4200 which like the Epson has chips on the cartridge. Unlike the Epson, however, the chips can be taken off and put onto compatible cartridges. Having said that the Canon carts are about 7.99 each colour from 7 day shop in Jersey and compatibles are about £2.99. Canons also do not dry up like the Epsons which makes them unusable if you don't print every week or so.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
