When to send out wedding invites?

Options
Hi everyone, first post in this part of the forum...

Wifey to be & I get married on May 1st 2011 & was wondering when do people think would be a good idea to send our invites out? Save the dates have already gone to the day guests. W2B has made the invites, absolutely brilliant job (will upload some pics soon) & I just want to get them out there but she thinks they'll get lost amid all the xmas stuff & to wait until January?

  • Personally I wouldn't send the actual invites before February if I was you. Mostly depends on when your venue needs approx/final numbers by. I went to one wedding where the invites were only sent 4 weeks before but mostly they have been 2 months before. Before Christmas is far too early - recipients will lose them or forget about them through the festive period.

Ooh the day before us! Think we'll (try!) & hang on until the first few weeks of Jan. I'm so proud of her the job she's done with the invites, just taking some pics...
  • We are getting married 30th April too...we are sending ours out in the first couple of weeks in January...it will give everyone some thing nice to look forward to, as January often seems a bit of a long month !....Oh and because I REALLY REALLY want to get them sent out ! :D
Glad I'm not the only impatient one !

Agree. Any more is too long. People will not reply because it's too far out, which will create more work for you as you will have to hunt them down.

As it's the bank holiday Sunday, I'd say December or January actually as lots of schools half terms will be then so people will be booking holidays
