Help - Non-certified boiler!

Hi there

About a year ago we had a new boiler fitted by a 'friend of a friend' who did not certify the boiler.

This person was basically a cowboy, but the boiler has been checked by a professional and deemed safe.

However, how do we go about getting it certified? The cowboy who did the original job is not around anymore to do it, even if he could.

thanks

I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • Well, i don't want to sell at the moment, but I will in a couple of years.

So whether its now or later, how do I go about getting it cerfified?

I take it that this is required to sell a house?

Then I'm stuffed , never will I move again!

The purchaser might request a certificate, but cant see why you have to have one.
Let them pay for the 'survey'

Solicitors can and do ask for certificates to prove the gas appliance/boiler was fitted legally and correctly.

They will make you jump through hoops to get one.

Can't think how anyone can or will supply you with one now and if they did, it would probably cost around £300.
  • Good evening:a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate should have been provided by your 'installer' (assuming he/she was legit)... it only costs my OH a couple of quid and about 5-10 minutes to notify his installs via GSR.

Advice is available on the Planning Portal.

How does an non-certified boiler stand with buildings insurance if there is a fire etc? Are you still covered?
