wow, that sounds amazing. Does it kill the microwave or make it easier to clean. I don't have a microwave anymore and don't want one. Even more room in my kitchen for the toaster!:j

That's why I do short bursts and stir. It's essential to get the hot mixed in with the cold and break up the surface tension.

I make fabulous, quick, perfect-every-time, cheese sauce in the microwave. I used to be able to make perfect cheese sauce in a saucepan, but it'd be labour-intensive and the saucepan would take some cleaning. Now I have 5-minute, perfect cheese sauce, leaving only a small microwave dish to wash up. Made it yesterday in fact: cauliflower and mash, topped with lashings of cheesy sauce.

Years ago I had a friend who had a coffee pot that he put on the stove. Water in the bottom and when it got hot the water funnelled up into the top section where the coffee was, then when removed from the heat it all went back into the bottom of the pot ready for serving.

That's how DH makes coffee all the time.... I use a french press usually for real coffee, or instant :o

I use supermarket's own brand of granules, usually about 80p/100g. I get a mug and a kettle of water, I pour the granules directly into the mug (no spoon), top up with water and that's it. No milk/sugar. No spoon that needs washing up. A perfectly streamlined system, with built-in contingency planning as I never run out of milk or sugar for my coffee :) Also, when out, at others' houses - if they have coffee and water, job done.
