Or buy a freeview box with twin tuners.
or just buy a freeview PVR some can record 2 channels and watch a 3rd, obv it would be a little more expensive than buying 2 £10 freeview boxes but it would be a lot less hassle when setting up recordings, including being able to record different programs on different channels (something which would be impossible with the 2 basic freeview box method)0 -

The answer to that is yes.
i would have to disagree it already is a dvd pvr with 320gb drive onboard i don't see in the data sheet any mention of a digital reciever (freeview etc) at all i suspect is a normal reciever so the only way to make this machine work again will be buy a freeview box with twin tuners so can watch one channel and be able to record another and on the existing machine will have to use av1 input as the record source and the freeviews menus to make sure is on the right channel. I love it when people check out all the facts first :T
so the correct answer is you will have to buy a freeview box with twin tuners and you will have to record through 2 machines menus and make sure that the freeview box is switched on manually or will record nothing!
the facts targa :money:0 -

The facts are !!!!!! that he didnt want to know about anything else apart from whether his dvd recorder would still record when it gets switched over to digital.facingthefuture wrote: »Hello, please can anyone tell me if my Targa DRH 5500x dvd recorder will still work when our area goes digital (and analogue is turned off).
Much appreciated.
Yes he will need a box but at not point has he mentioned about this and i assumed probably correctly that he already knew that he would either need a new tv or a set top box.
so again if you get back to the question which is all the OP wanted to know is will it still record the telly?
The answer is yes. Unless you think they have asked a different question or you can see something in the OP that suggests he wanted to know anything else apart from whether his dvd recorder will work?one of the famous 5
