Will my dvd recoder work when we go digital?

Hello, please can anyone tell me if my Targa DRH 5500x dvd recorder will still work when our area goes digital (and analogue is turned off).
Much appreciated.

  • I dont see why not. It just records the input signal no matter if analogue or digital

You will be in the same boat as me.

I assume you have no Sky+ or Freeview HD+ box..

You will only be able to record the digital channel you are watching through your dvd recorder. Probably through the AV1 on your recorder.

You can of course use it to play back DVD's.

Doubt it. No Freeview, so no digital tuner.

Yes, just plug in a freeview box into the scart socket.

If you can have a freeview TV, you may well be able to output the signal from the TV to the DVD recorder, including setting a timer on the TV as to when and what channel to output. I use this with an analogue Sony PVR and Panasonic TV without problems.

With freeview boxes so cheap that’s a good solution.
  • Thank you, that's a relief. I will have to get the freeview box anyway.

If your TV doesn’t have built in Freeview you will need to get 2 if you want to watch one station and record another.

Ignorance is bliss. What you have is questionable.

Or buy a freeview box with twin tuners.
