Hi All
I would like to ask for some advise please on growing veg and herbs as I've never attempted it before so need help please.
I have a very small garden that is southfacing and gets the sun all year round (well as much sun as we do get in the UK:rotfl:). I have full borders of plants, flowers and bushes but would love to be able to grow veg and some herbs in tubs and grow bags but haven't got a clue what can be grown in tubs/grow bags and when to plant etc.
I've not got a big enough garden to be self sufficent but would love to be able to grow at least some veg/herbs for now.
I would be most grateful for any help and advise on this matter.:)

Well, I don't know if it might help, but you can see what I did this year here, using tubs, a small greenhouse and a little reclaimed lawn space. It is quite long, but it might give you some pointers (any maybe some clues on what not to do too.
)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I'm still reading through it at the mo, am so impressed with your garden and veg plots. Feel very inspired and eager to get going on mine.
I haven't got a greenhouse or any space that I can put one up, does that mean that there would be alot of veg that I can't grow? or would it be best to try and get one of these shelving unit things that you can get with a plastic cover? (sorry, don't know the proper name!?!) xGrocery Challange for DH, Me & 2 Fussy Cats (inc Grocerys, Cleaning Products & Cat Food)G/C -May £177.04/£235.00 Apr £237.79/£235.00 Mar £226.16 /£235.00G/C - Jan £248.52/£235.00 - Feb£214.72/£235.00NSD -May 3/31 Apr 10/30 Mar 3/31 Feb 6/28 NSD Jan 3/310 -
I grew potatoes in small popup bin bags sold in poundland, Worked well & no digging.
Lay a plastic sheet down & empty the bag out pick potatoes out & put the soil/compost back, I then planted onions in them.
Just planted some garlic, Going to make some form of raised platform for them as i just read they prefer fairy dry soil.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
We have allotments so have grown for several years but truthfully seed packets have good info and it was our starting point.
Give a seed what it needs and it WILL grow .:) good luck0 -

No, it won't limit you really. I mainly had tomatoes in mine, and some of my best ones were grown outdoors anyway.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
strawbs in growbags, better still in a big plastic barrel with holes in it (see a previous post of mine).Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).
