i stsrted up a new thread this morning for people to offer their unwanted tickets to other MSE users because both the ticket thread and the discussion thread kept deleting everyone offering their tickets to other users...
i asked the board mod about why they keep getting deleted to be told it is against the rules...so on further delving i was given the info above #426 as to why it is against the rules...i was then told to delete the thread which i did...
if we cannot post our unused tickets in the tickets thread or the discussion thread then where can we offer them without having to pm every perosn on here asking if they would like the tickets??
i think it is ridiculous that it is against the rules to offer them to someone else...
since i deleted my thread this morning someone else has started another thread exactly the same as mine was but that hasnt been deleted and plenty of people are posting unused tickets on both threads to other mse people and havent been deleted so i think they are just picking on who they want to when they want to....0 -

Unfortunately, you would need to do that outside of MSE. There are sites such as Freecycle where you can offer unwanted items free of charge to other people or https://www.bobsfreestuffforum.co.uk has a swaps section where you could swap them with others.0 -

Any thread that you have ever posted to is in your SUBSCRIBED list
At the top of most pages use the QuickLinks or UserCP and view your Subscribed Threads.
Dead easy to find it then !
Dear Quoia,
I don't think a lot of the new MSE members are that technically minded - I for one have been using the forums for months and only recently got familiar with some of the other features - in fact when I checked my PM's for the first time at the end of last year I was amazed to find a message there that was months old !!
In fact right now I'm not sure where the 'Subscribed List' is you refer to.
Yes I can follow your instructions now but what about in a few weeks when your post has gone way down the thread list and many new members have joined, etc.
Anyway what do other people think ?
I say one thread for free cinema tickets - whether from a company or an MSE member who can't use them - and one for the discussions.
Just 2 cinema ticket threads.
Chrisyou know when you're getting older - the wife says, "let's go upstairs and make love" and you reply, "I can't do both" !!0 -
i think we should be able to re-distribute our tickets in the tickets thread instead of keep having them deleted all the time...0

Just got back from seeing Babel... WOW!
Emotionally exhausting, harrowing from start to finish but totally gripping! I didn't like it at all but I loved it at the same time. If you can bear it, it's a brilliant film!
(FWIW I think people can be pretty cruel on the other thread. Not everyone who reads it, reads it reguarly or understands that is is policed by near-militants, so the way they are treated is pretty unfounded.)Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It doesn't matter how many weeks have gone by or where your post is or how many new members have joined etc. , if the thread is active and has recently been updated (and if it hasn't why would you be interested in it anyway) it will be at the "top" of your subscribed list.
For instance - if I click on "Quick Links" and select "Subscribed threads" from the drop down selection - I get the 20 most recently updated threads that I have posted (or subscribed) to.
The top 11 threads have all been updated today, the next 4 were last updated yesterday, the next 4 were added to the day before yesterday and the last one (20th) was updated 3 days ago.
I doesn't matter when I last looked at or posted on any of these threads, the order is "last updated" (by anyone) sequence.
My 8th entry is a thread I posted on last September (so about 4 months ago) but it's there because someone updated it today at 14:31.
As for the "cinema threads" in question - they have NEVER been off the FIRST page of my subscribed thread list which, at this instant, stands at a total of 816 subscriptions. There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

I agree - I could not decide how I felt about it - some bits were very disturbing - especially the Japanese girl - but it was a good film - very different from anything else around at the moment - although I must say I enjoyed Notes On A Scandal more!0 -

I think people's unusable tickets should be re-offered in the original 'Free Cinema Tickets' thread - after all, they are exactly that - 'Free Cinema Tickets' and not a discussion about tickets/cinemas/times or whatever !!
What do other people think ?
Totally agree - and the people who complain are often those that do not find the initial offers, and do not thank those who do.
i.e. Takers, rather than givers... The forum cannot survive with takers alone.0 -

I think that is a bit over the top (well quite a lot over the top actually)
When there was only one thread, loads of people were complaining that they kept missing out on "free ticket postings" (not from individuals but the ones like seefilmfirst and a code) because loads of people were posting THANKS as a message and not just clicking the "thanks" button, adding comments about movies seen etc. and general film discussion. This meant pages and pages of posts that hindered the point of the thread, ie informing people of where & how to get free tickets because it was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
The ever growing haystack was further exacebated by the multiple postings of the same film, same date, same code , time and time again usually with the "pre-emptive apology" of "Sorry, had a look, couldn't see this anywhere" - possibly genuine in some cases (although I don't think many posters "looked very hard") because the previous entry had been "buried" pages back amongst all the other !!!!!! ! That made it quite easy to lose a post for a particular "free film screening" that is only ever posted just the once, because in little more than a day or so it could be 5 or 6 pages back, and unless it is repeated or you trawl through pages of thanks and discussion, you may never know about that particular screening offer.
So to stop this the 2nd thread came into being BUT unless it is "policed" (which basically means MAINTAINED) it would just turn out to be a copy of the 1st thread because people continually don't "follow the rules" of that thread - so "housekeeping" takes place and posts on it will have to be deleted.
As for the "treatment" of certain posters do you think nothing should be said to any of them ?
For instance a very recent post of a "new free screening" was added to the thread directly after the very same screening details (same everything) that had already been on the thread for almost TWO days. Worse still, the 2nd posting was made THE DAY AFTER the screening had taken place.
Sadly there is a frequent eagerness to post a "new find" without actually checking any of the details, or taking what I consider to be "reasonable steps" to verify that it is NEW !There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93
