Is there anybody else who cannot connect to to 3 mobile broadband.
It does actually connect, but then won't allow any internet pages to be displayed
Pretty computer savvy, so I'm 99.9% sure it's not me, tried it on 2 laptops just the same.
I'm in the London area.
Cheers

Can you visit:
http://www.three.co.uk
If you can then there's a problem with your account (i.e. no data allowance left)
If you can't see that page then it's a problem with your settings.
Follow these instructions it's for XP but the settings should be the same...Laters

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but maybe I wasn't clear enough.
I've been using it for nearly 2 years and was using it the other night, but then it just dropped and hasn't worked since.
It still says it is connected at HSDPA on the modem software, but it is only connected at limited access or local level when you put the mouse cursor over the little computer screens by the clock on the windows desktop.
I can't view any page, not even my 3. I thought 3 had a service status page where you could see if they were suffering from any outages, but can't seem to find it on their website. I'm trying to avoid the awful indian call centre.0 -
If you use a normal internet connection does everything work?
Only thing I can think of is to clear out the Network settings and un-install the Three software,
Delete the connections in the Network pages in case and update has messed with their settings.
Then re-install the Three software from the dongle (test the connection) then update the software and see if it works..Laters

Yes!
It is a relief to hear that others have problems.
I used it all day on Friday on two laptops, and have been doing this for more than 2 years now. I noticed that it started disconnecting late on Friday, but I was
tired so did not care too much.
I got in for a minute or two on Saturday on one laptop, and the same on Sunday on the other laptop. One is Internet Explorer and Windows XP, the other is LINUX and Firefox. There were no changes my end. I know that there is plenty of prepaid allowance left, and in any case the Three home page is always free so you can top up. I never get that far. The fact that I got in long enough to read a new email suggests that things are ok my end.
The symptoms are the same this morning. I am in Central London.
I am not registered with Three: I used the prepaid starter kits. I am wondering whether I am being treated as a second class citizen because of this. The dongles are mostly dark blue, which is very slow, but even when tghe cyan light is showing I can't access the internet.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Fozmcfc, I too am trying to avoid the Indian call centres. I came on here hoping to find some answers. I was wondering whether Three are working on the network.
I am in my local library on the free WiFi now, and am using the internet ok.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Well an update from me, as it is possibly now working.
It dropped for me on Saturday 1am or 2am, whilst I was working in the West End of London. I tried on 2 laptops (one with XP, one with Vista) no luck, uninstalled everything, no luck.
Still wasn't working right the way through till I left work at 6 on Sunday monring.
Tried it Sunday afternoon on my home pc in SE London and it was working fine.
So it is either going to be fine now or possibly it is only affecting certain parts of London.
Three don't have a customer forum or a service status page, so it isn't easy to find out about issues and I really don't want to ring that awful call centre, who thought my mates name was 23 once.0 -
I am back too, on both laptops! I got home from shopping and tried it just in case, and got a pleasant surprise.
I did not think it worth re-installing anything: those Indian call centres always make the Three Network customers do all kinds of things and it makes no difference as the fault is with the network. I did nothing at all my end.
Perhaps it was scheduled maintenance.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I had similar problems with my dongle always dropping connection 'pain in the butt', however found a solution which seem s to work! What happens when you are browsing the power cut out on the usb connection kicks in and disconnects, to solve the issue. Go to device manager scroll down to the usb ports( The last four root hubs), right click on each, click power management and uncheck 'allow this computer to turn off this device to save power'. You will find the light on the dongle stays on. But you will find when browsing and reading a page for a few mins the connection stays on. Hope this helps!Any posts by myself are my opinion ONLY. I think that power saving only applies when you are running off batteries, which I was not. Also, we couldn't get on to browse for 2 days - there were no problems before and after that. This suggests an outage at the network end, so no changes to settings would have an effect.
Still, that tip is worth remembering for times when you CAN get on to browse, but keep disconnecting.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Take your point here, but i was having the issue even when running on mains. The bonus is that more power goes to the dongle and the signal is always on the four bar, faster downloads and no dropped connections. Suggest anyone should try this.Any posts by myself are my opinion ONLY. They should never be taken as correct or factual without confirmation from a legal professional.
