Looking to the Future ... My Mortgage Free Dream

I have the spreadsheet from Financial Bliss I use to track my OP's and outstanding balance but I use 'thismuchiknow' to work out months saved. It's great to know you've knocked another month off rather than just seeing a reducing balance. Our normal payment is just under £700 so knocking months off is hard work.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

My paypal money landed this morning so I've sent an OP of £90 this morning. :j
Still waiting on my OP money to arrive but I think I'll send that to the ISA when it gets here.0 -
Well done on OPing £90

My OP payment came in about a week, so you shouldn't be waiting too long.
Nice overpayment this morning. All adding up isn't it.

I've been looking for wardrobe storage for most of the morning. We have built in wardrobes but they are an odd size and we have NO storage in this house. Can't find anything to fit or that wont cost a fortune though. I keep thinking don't spend too much if we are really serious about moving in three years but then I can't live in this clutter for that long either.
Not achieving much this morning, so am going to go to work and start again tomorrow.0 -
I love a website called a place for everything. It sells lots of really great storage solutions but it is pricey. Can you make anything similar? How crafty are you? Material can be a lot cheaper than buying stuff.
We have too much stuff too, but part of me hates to throw stuff out. I keep giving stuff to neighbours for their kids,0 -
I did have a look at them, but they haven't got quite what I am looking for. I want the wire frame to fit in my spaces. Ikea do them but they are too deep. I'll find it eventually.
Payday today so some money moved about. Also OP money arrived so sent that to the Isa. My next target for overpaying will start on the 5th as that's when our month starts for some reason as they only take the DD for the mortgage then. Any extra money between now and then will go to the ISA which is all going in the right direction.0 -
Thank goodness it's the weekend. Plans for this weekend is to tidy the house in a major way and catch up with some last minute shopping. I have been going to to supermarket nearly every day again and this HAS to stop. My plans for when we return from holiday is to get more organised with the meal planning, it's not difficult so why am I finding it so bad?
DY is sitting at £34 so I'm not going to reach my target of payout by the 8th, but it'll help towards my next month's OP target nearer the end of July. I checked the mortgage balance online this morning and after my OP in the week, the balance is higher than my spreadsheet. I know this is due to the interest added on as they do this daily and it will save me more in the end, but it's really depressing seeing it.0 -
I did a major meal plan the other week and ended up spending a fortune but I know that's because I was buying from scratch iykwim, spices etc. The meals have been cheaper to make since.
We go away on Monday but I want to avoid spending a fortune on food so am hoping to take enough with us for breakfast and lunches etc.
I think it's hard to avoid frequent trips to the supermarket when small children empty the fruit bowl so quickly!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I've just said similar about food on my thread. I have had several meals out and takeaways in the last month. Only one was planned for a social occasion, so i need to try and avoid that this month or we won't have budget for any in August when we are on holiday.
I'm not quite at the shop every day, but it is annoying me what we are spending. I'm dreading the school hols too, as i just know my two will be constantly on the search for food. Partly boredom at times i think.
I'm having an earning push again this month too, so i am focusing on chow. Didn't know if you would have seen this:
