Hi,
Really confused over what TV to buy. Been considering buying for best part of a year and still not decided whatI want. Had conflicting advice from retailers, manufacturers every man and thier dog!
Ok, definites.
The TV will be mainly used for gaming. 90% of the use.
It will get the of bit of TV but more likley a film/blue ray.
I want between 42" and 50"
I am currently using freeview. I plan to continue this though maybe upgrade to a Humax HD PVR box.
I want to purchace from John Lewis.
I plan on purchacing in the post Christmas sale. 27/28th Dec.
I had previously understood plasma was better for gaming mainly fur to the contrast ratios and refesh rate. A sony rep recently told me to go LCD.
I've had a look on AV forums which is helpful but almost too much information there for me!
any advice here from people that know their hadware?
Thanks.

It doesn't really matter to the vast majority of people and if you are finding this a bit confusing I would suggest you are within this group, just go to JL when its time to buy, look and listen to a few from good solid brands in your price range, look at extras including web enabled.

Hoping the drice will drop after Christmas to maybe 650/7 and there will be some left!0 -
Don't leave it too late or you will be hit with the VAT increase though.

I have both 50" plasma and LCD in my house and both used for gaming. I dont think there is to much difference between the quality etc however i think that the plasma is better in a "bigger room" so the distance from the tv is more than with the lcd. I prefer the look of the lcd though.Grocery Challenge - Jan £4.42/£200.00

A Sony salesman told you LCD is better - why on earth would he say that? Oh, because Sony don't sell LCDs!
Yes as above a Panasonic S20 in 42 or 50 inch would make a great gaming screen. G20 too (adds a freesat HD tuner, maybe not much use, but they can be similar prices). I have a G10 which is last year's model that you might be able to get cheap...0 -
Hi,
Looked at the G series this morning. Price has just dropped and I was very tempted to change my order, mainly due to the Viera Cast which is the internet service.
Stuck with the S in the end.0 -
Considering that you're going to be gaming on the TV, if it's a PS3 or PC, they'll be far better than the TV for the connected stuff, so I think it would've been a waste to pay extra for the G. Enjoy!0
