Parasitic Claims companies

My son was recently involved in an accident on a roundabout where he clipped the rear of a passing car. The chap was decent enough and, (unprompted), offered to get a quote for his damaged bumper and allow my son to pay privately, bypassing the need for insurers.
All was well until a 'specialist' claims company were passed the chaps details by the repair garage. This chap was obviously 'smooth-talked' into signing on the dotted line, (probably unwittingly signing a credit agreement, which he may later regret). To cut a long story short the repair bill suddenly rose to £1800+ and weeks later claims for 'soft tissue damage' submitted, (tellingly minus any medical or photographic evidence).
If the present government are looking to get tough on fraud I couldn't think of a better place for them to start than on these parasitic leeches who ensure we all pay more for than necessary for our car insurance.

This is one reason why insurance is going up, it isnt the insurance who pays its use the consumer

I have heard these companies even leave leaflets in some hospitals

I know there are some cases when compensation should be paid but like mentioned above that isnt one of them

These claims management companies do seem to have a licence to print money.

There was a programme recently on the TV which exposed how a claims management company was set up by a criminal gang to process fraudulent insurance claims.

He had no option but to go through the insurance company. I just hope they fight it.

    They won't :(.
  • Until the insurance companies grow a set and start fighting back it'll get worse.

Seems several lifetimes ago when a man's word was good, the now claiming driver had made a gentlemans's agreement, hang on no win no fee and money to worship.

It costs money to fight a case too so insurance companies end up paying whether they fight or not.

The only option is to clip the wings of no win no fee legislation as it is this which has lead us down this particular path.

Sister had someone drive into the back of her whilst she waited at an island, Not a major accident. Bumper
and towbar damaged. She had her 2 kids in the car. Someone called an ambulance who took them to the
    hospital just in case.

Car was collected the next day & repaired. Several months later they all got cheque's for £1000+.

Couple of days with a sore neck & a few twinges for a week or so. No wonder so many people stage accidents.

    Much easier than working.

The majority of leads are passed on from insurance companies. Most actually employ a claim management company, and pass you over to them if you have as accident.
Until they stop this, and the insurance companies getting a commision for each case taken up, the premiums won't stop going up. There's no loyalty between the companies, and certainly none to us, it's just another form of revenue to them.
