It's a new one on me. It seems strange complaining about a company wanting to put the problems right.

    It's not that uncommon.

When a company seriously mess up someone's home they are often not welcome to return and, if you read the OP, at least one of the things that is wrong suffered a number of attempts to correct it.

Strange? Not to want people back who don't turn up, who damage the house, who had multiple attempts to fix the floor, shower, toilet, remove the rubble, and who had already had taken over two months to not complete a seven to ten day job?

Proof of the pudding? Look at Watchdog's report and others about Dolphin and Moben; their standard tactic is to send three, four, five separate teams of fitters all of whom failed to complete the job to the house-owners satisfaction. It was clearly the correct decision to refuse them re-entry.

And I assume you have read my post at 2.34 today? Nope, we did not want those fitters back in a million years TYVM. They were "one of Dolphin's best teams", so we were told.

When they are that incompetent, you are within your rights to get it fixed by someone else and to require financial recompense.

Yeah i did read your post at 2.34pm

if this bathroom was so bad why has it taken three months to get someone in to fix it?

You always keep a "daily diary from day one"? It's as if you knew you were going to complain about them.

You've already had a free bathroom from dolphin. what else do you expect from them? it sounds like they have been more than fair.

PS anyone else think it strange that this thread wasn't touched from 13th November till yesterday, then yesterday a brand new poster (1 post in total) says how bad Dolphin are, then today the OP comes and talks about his new problems with the bathroom?

I would write things down if people didn't turn up also, if no other problems great but bad service from the off is a bit of a warning sign.

New posters bump old threads all the time. Some people have it set so they recieve an email when a reply is posted, so they come back.

The builders now in were arranged back in November when Dolphin finally returned the money. We then had to fit in with their schedule and around Christmas. I would have thought that was obvious really.

Why keep a daily diary from day one? A good question. Fortunately the answer is also good: because it wasn't exactly day one. Day one was when they promised to fit before Christmas and failed on that promise (although in fairness they gave us a £500 discount for that inconvenience).

Then they took the deposit twice and put me over my CC limit for which I was penalised. Dolphin promised to repay that but did not do so until let's see, twelve months later as part of their refund.

Then they messed us around with the original tiles we ordered: "not available anymore". Except at several other tile suppliers. And at Dolphin presumably since they were still in the later Dolphin catalogue/brochure. We are still waiting for the sample of replacement tiles that were promised to us when the original style became unavailable. Must be that darned inefficient Post Office. But I don't think that the PO can be blamed for the salesman who came to show us new tiles but errr, actually, didn't have the tiles with him (hence why they promised to post us them.)

Oh, and the message left on the 15th February regarding the delivery of our new kitchen. Actually, the bathroom, yes, that's the bathroom, was delivered 11 days previously.

Then there was the mistake regarding a £249 payment off the bill which they neglected to credit us for until we reminded them about the payment.

And the delayed start after fitters were supposed to arrive on the Friday but rang us instead on that day to say that they would arrive on the Monday instead. So my wife lost one day's holiday on the Friday and since they didn't turn up on the second "start day" either, she missed another one. Gee thanks Dolphin fitters.

They weren't looking too efficient and reliable by this stage, were they?

So "always knew we were going to complain about them" - what planet are you on? If the above wouldn't make you suspicious that things were not going to plan, then you are easy meat for companies like Dolphin. (Unless you work for them of course.)

Free bathroom from them? Huh? Yes, we have some items that they have left but as you know, they were told they could collect it at a mutually convenient time. On the other hand we had wasted days off work; lack of bathroom facilities for two-plus months; damage elsewhere in the house; leaks, dangerous electrics, un-returned phone calls; different excuses given by different members of Dolphin staff; suspcious excuses from the fitters about why they didn't turn up; multiple failed attempts to do things correctly; many, many faults involving just about everything the fitters did; several months of dust and inconvenience and wasted holiday-days instead of a seven to ten days job; and a recalcitrant company who clearly don't have the common sense to sort things out to our satisfaction and not theirs.

What we now have of course, is slightly different: we have a bathroom nearly re-furbished within just over one week including initial repairs to the damaged ceilings. We have a fitters who turn up on the dot when they promise. We have tiles that are not loose, and a shower unit that is securely fitted to the wall. We have pipes that do not "drain" (if that is the right word) uphill. We have fitters who protect the wooden stairs when they walk on them. Just as examples.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot, we don't have a toilet leaking faeces into the floorboards either.

So what more do I expect? Well, let's see. How about they acknowledge that, "one of their best teams were so appallingly useless that they allowed faeces-contaminated water to soak though our floorboards and ceiling", and pay us for the repair and inconvenience? That would be a start.

I'm sure you would agree DarkPool. Of course, you could just be trolling... unless you work for them Mr DP?

Yep, you're right. It is odd how seedpod is apparently having some similar problems with Dolphin as we had. Must be a conspiracy. In fact, all those folks shown on Watchdog with the same sort of story must be in on it. Probably any complaints about Dolphin on the internet are part of it as well. That's it, conspiracy - there's no other explanation!

P.S. You have heard of e-mail notification of replies?

This post is WITHOUT PREJUDICE Mr DP, just in case.

The only thing that is strange is why someone would choose to defend this company after all the appalling evidence against it.By the way, the quote above is from another poster.
