  • I've got an 18yr old - I feel *almost* free :rotfl:

Hi sans  haven't *seen* you recently :)

It only seems like yesterday that they were toddling round my feet - I also have a 13 and a step 11yo - so some years yet before I can run around the house naked and turn my stereo up......(actually I do both those already, what am I on about!):D

a full on rubbish week, done for speeding, got a letter saying last paycheck i was over paid and then a letter telling me i dont qualify for JSA as alegedy didnt pay enough National Insurance, which obviously i am going to challange!

-find payslips and P60s to challenge letter about JSA
-help friend take old carpet to tip
-stew for dinner (make last night)
-allotment; chickens, wild birds, get some wood from greenhouse for heating at home
    -washing and washing up
    -tidy house
    -write job application
    -check online banking
-look for cheap candle moulds, so I can make use of the wax from our beehive, for presents

Praying you get JSA sorted soon...Hugs

Put on my diary but might be worth a look for any of you

There is a sale weekend on for approved foods for normal people (non-highland) delivery this weekend is half price - I can't use them as delivery is too high but maybe worth a look for anyone else?

    http://www.approvedfood.co.uk/

Living in the city I got my first AP order some weeks ago only to discover most of the stuff I'd ordered was cheaper @ places like the £shop etc  and I don't like waiting in all day for the courier so maybe give this one a miss. Though AF (sorry I put ap first of all) were very good on the customer service..
    :rotfl:

Whoops sorry if too detailed - I'm dyslexic - too many words are often a curse - I'm rubbish at explaining stuff

I hope it helps - much cheaper than new curtains!!!!! I know its not very 'interior' designer - but its a good cheap way of thermally lining windows :)

I tend to pin things -easier to remove later I tell myself :rotfl:

I made my first set of 'curtains' about 10 years ago for the last flat...just needed something to keep eejits from peering through my windows....

    Here's how

    NEED
    • Patchwork (or light fabric...old duvets/sheets would be fine) (this will be fabric A)
    • Calico (fabric b)
    • Iron on hem stuff
    • Drawing pins (I had brass ones for the effect but if doing this in a child's room I'd go for multi coloured)
    • Cord/cheap tie backs
    • Stick on hooks

    METHOD
    • Glue strips of fabric A together using the iron on hem stuff then pin and glue fabric a to fabric b at edges (don't forget to hem)
    • Pin up with the drawing pins
    • Use the cord/cheap tie backs for opening/closing securing them to the wall with the stick on hooks.

Had some good exercise biking to the veg garden and then half biking to Mr S and the bag I got for the panniers is really good :T but now behind schedule as didn't finish all the cards before I left  and pray I have enough bread for tomorrow.... Maybe a trip to Mr S is needed tonight (on the bike again) for cheap bread :) for a few days :D

    Blessings

  • Good afternoon,
Am very late today - but better than not joining in at all which seems to be the norm for me recently:o:o
Good job I checked my banking today - one of my accounts was £64 o/d when it should have had almost £200 in - it's an account where i stash £55 each week for next month's groceries. Looking at the account, 2 payments have conme out - both overseas, neither of which were mine:mad: I never use the account in shops, the debit card lives in the drawer here, it's only an account for stashing money until I need it in my main account. So £203 this week and £25 last week. Rang the bank and it'll be refunded in 3 days, but very very annoying that some crook has got some free something out of it:mad:
Not done much today, been a bit of a hermit....here's my list:
    • banking checked - see above as to why I'm glad I did that:D
    • heating on low all day
    • washing on quickwashes, then on airer
    • meal tonight is not very MSE - treating girls to chinese. But, it was because their dad promised one last night, then cancelled - so I think I'll be the good mummy and buy;);)
    • Petrol bought, not in local expensive garage
    • returned library books to Uni and paid off fines
    • shut curtains as soon as dark to keep in warmth
    • keep shutting upstaits doors as hall is draughty and cools rooms down
    • go pick up the chinese, not pay for them to deliver;)
    • write next week's meal plan and small shopping list
Oooh and I made a Boots order online today - £45... But, for that I got 3 make up sets that were originally £35 each...they're reduced now, plus in 3 for 2, plus 33% off at checkout - so one for each of my girls and one for dd1's good pal for her bday. Also I got a hairdryer, funky zebra print, reduced to £25 from £60 for girls for Xmas - their current one smells a bit when it's used:( I used a £5 off code too, bought a £2 hairspray to get tio £45 for free home delivery. Rather pleased with it all - Full RRP should be tone - 3 lots of £35 and a £60 hairdryer:T:T
Ok, I should step away from the PC and stop buying:D

Hope all having a lovely Saturday:)
I really need to sort out a new signature!

    Hi all

Quiet day today. Not a NSD but have only spent on veggies and meat for weekend meals and OH has spent on DIY stuff (sandpaper etc so that passed the MSE test:D) but that's it. Not bad.

Made HM bread. No eggs today from the chickens..boo

Cleared out DVDs and CDs for charity shops and e bay..need to nudge OH though. He's not looking forward to hours of listing!

Yesterday ( does that count?!) really pleased when the local garage that we popped into for the first time didn't charge us for fixing our fanbelt...checked oil etc too. How amazing is that. He will definitely get our custom in future.

    Have a great weekend everyone

There is a great freebie on the low spend boards - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2853294 - Virgin Vie mascara worth £12.50 for only £2.50 P&P. I've ordered one as my current mascara (not used for ages) is, umm, about 2yrs old and I believe you are meant to bin them after 3-6 months 'coz of germs :o

So I'm counting that as an extra baby step - getting a cheap mascara for £2.50 instead of paying around £9 for my favourite one.

  • Good Morning,

    - Off to the Gym today
    - Might make a cake or Some Brownies
    - Wash up
    - Store Cupboards
    - One Chirstmas gift to pick up in town
    - List 3 bits on ebay

My car is having some work done, it was stuff hightlighted in the last service although a friend is doing it so it is about 3 times cheaper than using the Garage.
