Saturday/Sunday 13th/14th November - what small DFW things will you do today??!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Good weekend everyone :T hope you all have the wkend off
just waiting for the coffee to perculate
So I appointed someone yesterday :j so that means finally we are fully staffed! (after almost a year, at one point there was only me and another member of staff who works 26 hours to cover a 8-8 seven day service
) Anyway the dark times are over!!!!
This weekend:

Morning everyone
My main aim for the day is not to get too down about living in this tiny flat. Cannot wait to have some space. Going to make a concerted effort today to get the place tidy - makes me feel a bit better about it at least - and not going to mope around... Difficult because we need to sell the place but to live here in the meantime we need things that make it look crammed full (like a new computer desk before OH damages his back from sitting on an uncomfortable stool for hours a day and slow cookers coming out our ears, which take up the entire worktop space but give us cheap tasty meals...)
Determined - glad you appointed someone else to ease the pressure on the rest of the team. :T
Pippi - hello there! Hoping you get back into the swing of working again soon. Tell me more about these curtains - I've been thinking about lining my living room ones somehow...
Lotte - I love it that your OH is getting into the mse way! Result!
Big waves to everyone else  Oh seasideDreamer - to santander!!
Today:- wash the dishes
- sort laundry
- put clothes away
- take rubbish and recycling downstairs
- sort online shop
- reply to gumtree ad re new chair
- quick shower early - tend to put things off if I sit in my jammies y'see

- nip to corner shop to buy stuff to make brekkie - walk past the sandwich shop, walk past the sandwich shop...

- in laws for tea tonight - always tasty and I know 'chef' has been watching Masterchef

- phone using free mins

Morning all
Crazy, crazy week at work, not managed to get on at all, although I did read the thread a couple of days when I could which kept me inspired
List for the weekend:
Do some searching on line for a few christmas pressies, only need a couple more and would like to get sorted.
Dig out left over cards from last year and write these before I buy anymore
Print labels for above cards
day in, so NSD for me.
Food from stores
meal plan to do for next week, hopefully should be a small shop, overspent a bit on last months groceries, trying to claw it back.;)
loads and loads of washing, dry naturally inside, 3 loads done, just about to put the fourth one on...must remember to do some in the week, don't want to spend every saturday doing this
Plus house looks like a linen factory :rotfl:
send back application for new 0% card, was hoping to be DF by the time the current one expired, but, due to a decision we made earlier in the year about DH hours, this isn't quiet going to happen. Have small amount to shift, must organise.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, good to 'see' you all :j0 -

La E - hello - I hope you feel better soon!
Fleece curtains -- cheap fleece - cut to size of your curtains then either tack or safety pin to the inside of your own curtains - bobs your uncle - do to suit your level of laziness.......
OR - the other way I'm doing it is by making blinds
- I've got two bamboo canes just a bit wider than the glass
- a piece of fleece cut to exactly the size of the window frame (by the glass bit) and about an inch to an inch and a half longer than the whole window
- then I wrap the fleece edge about half an inch or so around the bamboo cane twice like a sausage and then tack the fleece around the bamboo pole - both ends
- then use two cup hooks and put the bamboo cane up directly at the window (only works if you have wooden inside the window frame - if not do it outside the whole window where you can attach it.
- cost not alot - very effective
I've no fire issue in my home, so I'm happy with fleece right at and cvoering the windows - acts as a buffer for the cold.
I was going to blog it - so if it doesn't make sense I'll take pictures and stick it up on my bloggington (I don't make any money from it so I'm happy to mention it
I hope thats in the rules?)
The other thing I've done is pinned up a few nice throws at the smaller windows (in the loo) etc where I don't miss the daylight and it keeps it snuggly and warm - again very lazy - find throw/blanket right size for the window or a bit bigger - pin up with drawing pins to secure it. OK its not very homes and gardens but it means the heater won't go on in the tiny loo all winter :rotfl:
I've also baracaded one of the outside doors with a wardrobe with a big duvet by the door frame - stops the kids using two doors in the winter - and makes the house a bit cosier. Again as its at the back of the house - not a fire risk (?) - its at the opposite end to everything else and generally locked anyway. But the duvet has stopped the draughts and the door has glass so the wardrobe is covering that and making it cosier.
Goodluck!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
