We had our kitchen done about 2 years ago and chose porcelain tiles for it. The fitter said you could drop a hammer on them and they won't crack. Haven't tried it, but the odd bit of crockery has gone that way and always lost! If going with tiles consider the colour of the grout you'll have. My OH wanted white. The fitter said he would normally use regular grout, which is grey, and that white would turn that colour in time anyway. We got the white and I have to treat it with whitener every 6 months to keep it that way as the fitter was right!
    Looks nice though.

So thats £45/m2 for the tiler:eek:? I suppose if you are getting the best its justifiable but my guy is in his low 20s so he cant have much of an exprience!

I'm begining to think I'm in the wrong job:p

Yes, my guy is in 50s and it is just him and his son. They are also bathroom fitters and completely re-did by bathroom and ensuite and did an excellent job. Unfortunately, I have found other workmen I have used not to really care about their work, so I prepared to pay more to know it will be done properly.
