Sorry if you have seen this thread in another section, i wasn't sure where best to put.
I have very old storage heaters and was considering the idea of putting in gas central heating. However as i only need 2/3 radiators it is working out as really expensive (not sure going to be in the property long enough to recoup the cost).
I have been recommended these heaters by a friend and was wandering if anyone else has any experience of them. I work all day therefore storage heaters are a pain as no heat left by the time i get home at 6pm.

£507 for a 2.5kw electric heater - they are taking all buyers to the cleaners.
Lots of marketing baloney in the description to fool you into thinking it's much better than a 2.5kw oil filled radiator from Argos - which costs?

Look for some modern, second-hand storage heaters ? Seems to be lots of ebay etc ?0

OUCH! You have to remember all electrical heating is 100% efficient at the point of use - with the exception of heat pumps.
There are allot of these companies on the internet that claim their heater only costs pennies a day to run, look so stylish, have gimmiks like remote controls etc.
If you take a room and put a £500 2kW Elkatherm heater in, its running costs would be exactly the same as a 2kW £30 oil filled radiator from Argos.
IMHO the only difference is the styling of the heater.0 -
Remote stats are worth having on any heater, it wont cost you any less to run, but it will help with warming up, any stat fitted in a heater, will sense the proximity of the heater and switch off when you want 100% heating power for any length of time.
Don't be fooled by the claims of "free heat" or you only use 20 minutes of electricity for an hour of heat.
Quality and appearance you do pay for, but you won't get any more heat out.0 -
You can deal with a timer between the plug and the wall !0
