Metro bank - new customer review
Comments
-
I also had the same experience as Cathrin and left the bank a nervous gibbering wreck - I was humiliated beyond belief and left the branch pretty much in tears
I went from seeing a friendly advisor saying that it would be wonderful to be a Metro bank customer to being told that they had loads of people like me who would never be allowed to get anywhere near Metro Bank ever at all in my lifetime. I was also told that Equifax were unable to match me at my address that I have (which they tried to do 5 times on the same day) - identification checks registered at the building rather than my house.
I received a letter from them around 8 weeks ago telling me to contact CIFAS - no problem and Equifax
I contacted Equifax and while my credit file was clear there was a problem with the voters roll, as I was shown as living in my building complex rather than my house in the building complex so there was no trace of me on the voters roll, which I assume was the problem as the addresses didn't march it took Equifax 8 weeks to sort out the problem. Experian had no problem at all - the difference in credit scores for one error was - 303 Equifax and poor and 803 with Experian and good.
I would have thought the simpler solution would be for Metro Bank to check all CRA's .Personally I was left so traumatised by my treatment by the two Metro I wouldn't go near Metro Bank in a million - they may be a bank with no silly bank rules but IMO they are also a bank with no common sense either.0 -

Metrobank does not make it into the top 21.
Norwich and Peterborough a small regional building society is number 5! I wonder why Metrobank did not chart - is it because most folk only use it as a second account to get free overseas transactions ?0 -

I suspect many people also only use N&P as they offer a no f/x loading on their debit card.
The difference is that N&P's IT systems work better and they are more professional.
At the moment, my Metrobank credit card summary shows this online:
AVAILABLE CREDIT5,001.56
CREDIT LIMIT5,000.00
which are correct.
However, it also says:
CURRENT BALANCE133.03 and the statement shows my 'running balance' as -269.06 under recent transactions - neither of which are figures I recognise or which make sense!
Until Metrobank become more reliable, there is little reason for its customers to consider using them as their main account.
(and thats not even mentioning the fact that internet banking sometimes says its failed to log you in but if you press the link, it then loads your bank details!)

Sunil

Not sure what's going on here - or whether the problem is peculiar to Meto Bank ?
The responses from the Metro Bank rep are interesting though - they know more about boogieing than bankingHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Metro Bank are so dumb they don't know what "Mastercard secure" is- and judging responses to this and the "tweets" in the post above I wouldn't risk more than £20 of my money with this "bank"

It depends where the account holder lives I guess. A lot of people here in Norwich are with N&P (I am as well but as you said just for abroad transactions), I suspect most people who responded where "proper" customers.0 -
There have been more than enough adverse posts in this thread to damage any bank irrevocably - isn't it about time the Metro Bank Company Representative deigned to make a reappearance to tell us all what a wonderful bank it is?
Or has he/she given it up as a lost cause? :rotfl:0 -

The banking revolution has arrivedIf they spent a little more money on making their banking systems work, and a little less money making videos about how good it is (when it very clearly isn't) I'd be a much happier customer.Looking at the videos, I doubt any money was spent on them.
Metro Bank were so embarrassed by their video adverts that they closed their youtube channel
Hazzanet saw the videos - it was the official Metro Bank youtube account

I think that this must be the best comment on this thread so far...
Metro Bank have produced a video showing how they deal with customer complaints
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWoeoS6g2Dc
some interesting comments on a video related to that:
"I had the worst experience at Metrobank. The woman was rude and horrible, it was the worst. It took an hour and a half for the woman to say that she couldn't open an account because there's an error at expedian or something. Then she got the bouncer to come and be threatening. It was grim. She denied there were any opening presents. Stuck up idiots. They're just American salesman - not good"
"since metrobank. the reason he set up here is because he is banned from running banks in the USA. when I went to set up an account I had been assaulted in a riot on the way there. hit in the head with a knuckle duster. they said it would take 10 minutes to open the account. after an hour sitting there they refused to open my account. they had water bowls for dogs, but no water for humans, no sympathy, no kindness. then the woman calls over 'security' to tell me to leave. awful"
Is it the done thing to escort customers out the door if they are declined an account?
pretty shocking, I was considering opening an account here next time I was near London. guess i'll steer clear.Oh, you wee bazza!0
