TBH I've had that with most banks I've been with - secure messaging even with 'online banks' like smile can take some time to be answered, other times the response can be pretty fast.

Agreed - they can bit hit and miss with their response times.

Which bank takes over an hour to send a "faster payment" - Metro Bank - love your bank

Which bank takes about an hour to credit an incoming "faster payment" - Metro Bank - love your bank

Which bank ignores complaints submitted via the Financial Ombudsman until the Ombudsman requests the file after waiting eight weeks - Metro Bank - love your bank

Roll Up ! Roll Up ! and open a Metro Bank for your everyday banking

Barclays , Natwest ,HSBC , Lloyds , Halifax , Nationwide , Santander , RBS , Ulster , CitiBank all send and receive faster payments within seconds - who in their right mind would choose to use Metro Bank ?

I hope they go the same way as that other company from the USA - Bestbuy :D

Mine took 20 minutes to open (Croydon branch). I was prepared and brought 2 bits of ID and several bank / credit card statements. I think I read I needed 2 IDs on their site first. Statements is a norm, I would have thought.

I've noticed the 1hr Faster Payments to and from but to be fair, I still remember the days of 3 working days for all payments so 1hr isn't that bad...

I've not had any issues myself.

Do they give you dog biscuits at all branches? Not for you to eat obviously...unless you're really hungry that is.

Since you opened your Metro Bank account in October 2010 you have posted on the Moneysavingexpert forums 48 times and 35 of those posts are about Metro Bank :o

You live in Leicestershire - do you use the Metro Bank branch service often ?

I have never seen anyone else pay in cash/cheques unlike other banks - do you know what the branch service is like and how many customers use the branches during their extended opening hours ?

You don't say what you like about Metro Bank - I find the toilets useful , but found the Holborn one occupied on my last visit and had to use Mc Donalds

As far as having a life is concerned - I have no need to comment :D

Other banks perform this transaction instantly and I know that I would prefer instant service at a supermarket checkout and would not be prepared to wait an hour to be served

Islamic Bank of Britain are quicker than Metro Bank , Metro Bank are not niche bankers so I do not understand why anyone would tolerate them - eg people would not put up with this from Santander :(

I doubt that it is appropriate to give these out in Croydon :p

Oh dear. The fact that you wrote that speaks volumes! With this being a forum to discuss current accounts, amonst other things, it seems fairly logical that most of my postings will be about my current account. Have I got that wrong?

I am just a happy Metro Bank customer. Since I don't live in London I pay cheques into one of my other bank accounts and transfer it once cleared. It appears in my Metro Bank account within an hour or so. After waiting four days for the cheque to clear I'm not bothered about an extra hour for the actual transfer to happen.

I have been impressed with their customer service, their counter service when I have used it and the current account facilities generally.

Why do you have the Metro bank account?

Well initially I was attracted by the fact it was a new bank so thought I'd give it a try. I liked the lack of commission on use of the debit card overseas - I had previously used a Nationwide Flex Account for this purpose.

While in London one day I opened the account and decided to use it as my main current account. I have since found it excellent for my needs and have had no problems, apart from a glitch back in late 2010 when I had problems setting up a transfer to another account. Customer service has always been excellent.

As with most banks, you very rarely need to visit a branch and the Metro Bank online banking serice is excellent in every way. It looks good and enables me to do everything I want except cancelling direct debits.

    Me too.

I wonder why Dr_Cuckoo3 opened his account ?
