Have just been through my bank account and all my incomings and outgoings and quite frankly I was shocked how much spare money I supposedly had left  no idea where that is all going. So time for a spending diary me thinks, and I am not waiting until next month I am starting today. So will write in my diary everything I spend and see where it is all going as with that much spare I have no excuse not to start saving
Really must look into which saving account to open too. It's a world I know nothing about so I best head over to the savings board me thinks :TProud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Hey Hypno :T
I am in a savings dilemma.
Ok I can save a bit each month do I?
- put it all in an ISA
- Part in an ISA and part in a instant access savings account for emergencies?
- Put it in DD name?
I am confuddled :cool:Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Right jobs all done round the house now onto doing some productive and MSE.
Have decided that from tonight I am giving up smoking I added up how much I am spending and it's crazy money, which would pay for me and DD to go away next year. I have one left which I will be smoking shortly and thats itfingers crossed lol.
Had a few ebay sales today so going to pack them up for posting and then look at putting some more bits on.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

Put it in an ISA - it will still be accessible in a true emergency without much in the way of a penalty, but the words "instant access" on a savings account (for me, anyway) are just another way of saying "take it when you see a nice pair of shoes you want"
Somehow, the ISA seems a little less accessible to my brain, even though the reality is that the cash is there when I really need it.
Good luck with quitting smoking xxxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Morning Hypno, I think you might just be right and an ISA is the way to go. Realistically I can't see me being able to save anything until after Christmas now so will have a good mooch about online this next month and see what the best offer I can get is. Good luck with your WI today, let me know how you get on.
Today feels a bit of a breakthrough day to me. Last night I was sat at home and realised it was two years to the day I chucked my hubby out. So much has happened in the last two years, which some of you on here will now lol particularly my Facebook buddies. I have come a long way in some respects. Have a lovely house of my own, nice shiney car, no debt and a new job and most importantly I have a wonderful daughter who through all this is still happy and loved by both of us.
I started thinking though about how in some respects I haven't moved on. I still use my marriage break down as an excuse for certain things, by no means am I depressed but I use it as a reason for why I don't do things. Why I haven't lost the weight I wanted, why I have no savings (i'm a single mum etc.etc.) and so many other silly little things.
In short I realised that enough is enough. I don't mourn my marriage at all, as in I don't want him back so why do I still mope about. So today is my new day. Two years is plenty of time to mope about the divorce etc. So today is day one of the new me, new single, dynamic me lol.
I am going to sit down this afternoon at work and have a think about what I want in life, where I want to be, what I want to do etc.etc. and I will write them in here. However, big or small I will write a list. Is it a bucket list, they call it? Things to do before you die lol. Well that kind of thing.
Ok that's enough from me haha but I will be back later :rotfl:Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

I have to say that making myself sit down and work out who I am and where I want to be was possibly the best thing I could have done this year. XOH, on the other hand, didn't do that, despite being the one who chose to leave etc, and he has had far more of a problem in accepting things and looking forward to the future.
So, invest some time in yourself, and be brutally honest. Write things down, and don't think about them too long because when you think about things you are in danger of twisting them, rather than going with the instinctive thoughts, which I find are generally more honest and realistic than I would have previously given credit.
Look forward - the best is yet to come but it is up to you to go and get it.
xx
PS, went to WI and am 9st 9.5lbs.....just half a lb heavier than I was at the end of July, so am very pleased that it has remained stableSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. Oooo well done on WI that's not bad at all are you still doing WW? I have just joined up online again so need to get myself down the shops. although I notice the points system has all changed now so need to get my head round that again.
I have write my list, decided not to publish it on here as to be honest some of it is quite personal and not exactly what I want publishing online. Just need to decide now which ones I shall tackle first. Maybe one of the big ones and a couple of the quick wins to make me feel better lol.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712
