Find a golf site and ask someone local to vag com it or you can buy the lead of ebay and scan it yourself, you get the first few codes free with the shareware version.

Yes but what is the point of getting a code with no supporting data?

Ask VW if they can read dates and times with their machine. That's presumably the speedo sensor? What about fuel gauge sender unit being faulty if indeed it is that which is causing the fuel gauge fault.

It might be the dash unit at fault as it is affecting the speedo and the gauge.

    You need it diagnosed.

I'd start with the insurer and tell them if they don't fix these problems which were caused by the accident then you will make a formal complaint to the ombudsman. But your case to the ombudsman would be better fought with an actual diagnosis of what exactly is at fault here.

Any good with a screwdriver? get a replacement dash unit from a scrap yard and swap them over.

Speedo and gauge could be the G28 speed sensor. they share the same earth loop.

As for swapping the dash with a screwdriver, unless you have the SKC code, it's a dealer only procedure.
