BT - Complaining does make a difference.

I have noticed that there are lots of threads about people getting annoyed with call centres, being passed from pillar to post with not much success.

Well, hopefully this story may help keep your motivation to make your point to the provider.

I had BT Broadband and BT Talk installed 8 months ago. Everything seemed to work initially, but after the honeymoon period, both services stopped working intermitently.

I would call the various numbers and try to get it sorted out. Most people I spoke to either could not understand fully what the problem was (regardless of how many times I explained) or they simply did not care. I would be on hold for hours at a time, passed to different teams, then eventually be put back through to the first team I spoke to. ARGHHHHH

As the problem was intermitent, it was generally bareable. Especially when compared to the trauma caused by trying to call someone at BT to get help.

Anyway, I went completly mad this week as I had enough. So I was on the phone for over 3 hours when I finally managed to get through to someone who actually did care. I explained what had gone on and how I wanted to transfer away from BT and for them to waive the fees remaining on my 12 month contract.

Furtunatley I had kept a complete log of all of the peoples names and call times and transfers etc. He said he needed to look into it and would call me back the following day.

He did indeed call back and agreed to not only waive the remaining fees on the contract but also to pay back all the BT Talk rental and call costs which I had already paid - a total of over £200!

Hopefully, this will help you keep on holding on.

  • We're having the same problems and it's annoying the hell out of me! Considering calling up to complain but like you are in a 18 month contract and never seem to get anywhere with them anyway!
