Check whether accidental damage is covered and if so then tell the truth.

My BIL has dropped several Blackberry's down the toilet as he puts them in his shirt pocket although I'm still not sure how he manages it or what he does with the phones afterwards :D

THIS. As with all insurance claims you need to be honest. Check your insurance policy to ensure accidental damage is convered and also that they haven't inserted an exclusion for water damage.

If you have no luch with your phone insurance, you may be covered under your house contents insurance if you have accidental damage/personal belongings cover.
  • As if water damage isn't already a hot enough topic, I see Motorola are actively advertising their new Defy as "party pool proof". I wonder how long it'll be before someone has a warranty declared void for water damage to one of these and what the repercussions will be.

Make sure you read the terms and conditions on how long you have before you make the claim, my son did this with his 3 nokia 5800 music phone and because i phoned at 5.15pm on the Thursday and i put on my claim form it happened in the morning of the Tuesday they would not honour the claim because i had gone past the 48hrs deadline for making the claim by about 5 hours.

Tip read your fonesafe T&Cs and read the claim box. If you do it monday you'll find they'll say declined.
  • yes, liquid/accidental damage is covered!

although if you put it in a washing machine then it isnt?!

    hi,

i just got of the phone with 'fonesafe', told them what happened:

"just sat on the toilet, turned to my side to get some toilet roll, when suddenly i heard a bang, i looked around and seen my phone in the toilet, the phone was in my jean pocket"

this is a new policy and i have yet to recieve my documents therefore they requested a few things,

    proof of purchase
    proof of address
    I.D. (p.p. or d.l.)
    Bank statement
    and completed claim form

what do you think of this?
  • Hope that the evil forces at Fonesafe cough up-

If they do then my advice would be to take the money and run- look eleswhere on this forum for a better insurance company- Fonesafe really are scum.

I reported my phone as lost and assumed that they would close my account, nope they continued to take the money for months even though they were in effect charging me to cover a phone that they would not cover.

There are cheaper companies with better policies out there who will treat you with dignity and respect.

    Good luck

BTW are you aware that the samsung can be hacked to act as a modem
