OP if you are unfortunate to have an accident there (Or anywhere else), it will greatly help matters if you take lots of photos at the time eg damage to both cars, how both cars end up, views from behind and in front and road markings etc etc. If you don't have a camera phone buy a disposable camera and leave it in your glove box.
It can also help if you photograph the driver and all passengers as this can help with injury claims0 -
"it would be hard to prove without a witness if I was in the right turn lane"
Does your phone have a camera? Or is it possible to keep a digital camera on you/in your car?
If an accident did occur you simply take photos there and then to show the position of your car.
As the others have said, if you were sitting the right turn lane, and you pics proves it, then you wouldn't be at fault.0 -
Injury claims?! Oh come on, this is the reason insurance is so steep. We're not in America, we have a lovely free health service so there's no reason (unless one were to lose work which is highly unlikely in what would be such a small shunt) to claim 'personal injury'.
If there's one thing I can't stand it's people who make personal injury claims. "Oh I was walking along and I slipped over and I got £3 billion from the local council and now the school has been closed but I don't care because my children have been sent to Switzerland to be educated and they deserve it anyway because it was definitely their fault because how was I supposed to know that big, fenced white patch of ground with people skating round was there cos it's normally just a footpath where I walk so I walked across it but this time I fell over and bruised my knee so I definitely deserve it and sod the consequences."0 -
Annoys me when people can't stay in their own lanes.0

Injury claims are pretty much essential these days because you always get screwed over to the tune of a grand or two when your car is written off.0

Surely it depends whether or not it was Stryder driving
Stryder's car is in the pic, you can't see it because he's in stealth mode
Green car 100% if Blue car is stationary
Green car 100% if blue car is driving slowly and tries to take evasive action but fails to avoid the collision.
Have a disposable camera with you at all times, and photo the immediate scene post collision.0 -
What is the correct name for a right hand turn box like the one above?
Ghost Island is the correct term for a two lane road that gains a bit to turn right.
'Filter' is commonly used to term arrows and lanes but in pure technical terms is only right for a left turn arrow when the red light is on.0 -
If it were me, I'd have hugged the right hand side, as there's a clear line to follow between where you're from and where you're going - whereas in that picture it looks like you went straight over then decided you wanted the right hand lane. Easier to "prove" you were doing the right thing if your right hand wheel is hugging the line smoothly, rather than leaving your angle looking like you made a last minute decision.0

There's a similar junction near me, except there is a bus stop adjacent to the houses on the top of your diagram. When buses stop, everyon else seems to think its fine to just use the right hand turn lane to overtake te stationary bus, even when people are in/entering the lane trying to turn right.0

One thing that hasn't been discussed yet is who was there first, for what reason, and who was stationary.
If the green vehicle had to avoid a stationary object or some roadworks and had no choice but to enter the oncoming traffic lane when it was clear, then stopped there due to a traffic queue, then if a muppet in the blue comes tearing along, declaring "that's my lane!" and wallops the stationary green car, then that's a hypothetical situation where blue could be at fault. The point is, there is an infinite number of combinations of circumstances with possible outcomes.
Now if we disregard all stationary obstacles and assume totally free flowing traffic all driving at the speed limit, then clearly blue would have priority over green in that lane if blue is turning right (but should stay out if going ahead).
The chevron markings prior to the ghost island (ever heard that term before?) are bounded by broken lines which, according to the highway code, mean that one should not enter the hatched area unless it is necessary and safe to do so. A similar meaning is given to hazard warning lines. It seems that traffic at that junction is predisposed to "straightening" bends as happens on many roads, even with a simple hazard warning line.
/edit: blue should also signal clearly and in plenty of time to give additional warning to green to stay away. If there is no communication, other traffic is more likely to "assume" and take risks.0
