Made a mistake. Can I Port Orange SIM Only to a new Orange contract?

About 2 weeks ago I ordered an Orange SIM Only rolling 1 month contract online and have just ported my old number to it from Three.

I have now realised that there are some 12 Month SIM only contracts which would save me £5 per month with Orange that I am pretty sure must be new since I ordered mine, but they say for new customers only. The options to change my plan that I get on the account management web site offer only the more expensive options.

I have sent an email to Orange Customer Services to ask if I can switch plan as I realise I made a mistake, but I am not expecting much sympathy from them.

So I am looking at whether I should order a 12 month contract and terminate my 1 month rolling contract, but I need to keep the same number and I can't find out if I would be able to port my number from Orange to Orange? Does anyone know if this is possible or if I need to find a loophole - maybe move it to PAYG and then back to contract?

Thanks

they say for new customers only. : You are, you are not upgrading.

This is the best way forward.:

I would be able to port my number from Orange to Orange? Yes, thats possible. If you can go from PAYG to contract why this isn't possible? Just ask for PAC and give it to the next guy. They never ask where you got PAC from and who was the owner of the number.

Hope this helped , Brummy Git.

its not possible to port your number from an orange sim only to another orange sim only or contract. You are correct you would need to port it out to a PAYG and then back into orange.
  • Thanks, I guess the first step will be to tell them that is what I plan unless they move me the simple way. Maybe common sense will prevail and they will see that all a refusal will do is incur costs for Orange which can be avoided.

I phoned orange today and was pleasantly surprised surprised at their customer services! I had several things to do, 2 contracts to downgrade, one to change to PAYG and other things to change, I found them really helpfull so it might be worth ringing them and seeing what they can do for you.
