I always feel bad as ds is older than dd and a lot easier to buy for. I want to spend the same but dh says theres no point getting bits for the sake of making up the moey as they dont understand and its more important for them to have things they would actually want. I can see his point I guess but doesnt help the guilt!!! I dont think theres much in it this year - YET!!!

Mine are at that age where they know i give them each a set amount of money and they tell me what they would like but only one has spent their money which is an ipod
They get other bits what they dont know about stocking fillers when i get some ideas lol
If the money dont quite add up i get vouchers so they can look in the sales but i have hardly had to do that as they usually know exactly what they want
I think the trouble is they have had so much previous years they dont need or want anything all my daughter said to me is she wants a playboy pencil case:rotfl:

I'm so lucky to only have the one child :rotfl: BUT on the other hand, everyone in the family has a £10 limit (Long term boyfriends have a £5 limit or joint gift!) except OH, myself and DD. We each have a budget of £50 including stocking fillers. So I know that if I was to spend the full amount on everyone in the family this Christmas would cost me £295 (including £5 for pet gifts  ). I'm planning on doing it for about £150-200 ;)

I love christmas, and always ending up spending a lot more than i have budgeted for, especially on my 2 (10 and 81/2) I always try and spend the same amount on both of them (as others, give or take a few pounds) but the most important thing is that they have a similar, if not the same amount of presents. Again, like others, its getting more difficult now as DS is into things like CDs, PS2 games and DVDs, which are all very small, DD is still into dolls and games, which come in big boxes, so i have to explain (especially this year) to DS that he gets the same as his sister, its just his things come in smaller boxes!!!!

I spend the same amount, 13 and 6 they are, I feel that the 13 year old is fully aware of prices, what he wants etc and the 6 year old not so much so why should he dip out because of it? I have exactly the same amount of presents to open on xmas morning and the same cost for each one-fair is fair !! xxx

I spend exactly the same amount on both my DD's. Even down to putting 10p in their piggy bank if i have spent more on one than the other. Would feel guilty otherwise. They would never know though and i don't think they would even mind. But i do.

I do keep a log, and they are roughly the same most of the time, but to me it is more about making sure they get a few of the things they want than what it costs.
One day I might be more organised...........

I have 2 boys aged 7 and 16. Obviously the 16 year old is into nike, adidas etc where the 7 year old couln't give a monkeys.

I ask each of them what they would like for xmas and get them one main present each whether one be £30 and the other £70.

I think the age difference lets me get away with it a bit, but I dont see why I should spend the same on both when they both get what they want anyway.

(This year 7 year old wants Cars (from film, McQueen, Mater etc) and 16 year old wants a North Face coat, so I can see a difference in price although both will be happy)

I spend what it costs! if i bought per what the RPP woudl be i would have already spent over 100 pound on ds - in fact i spent about 15.... buying bargin dvd and bits throughout the year.

We are thinking of getting ds a leapad globe this year but in toysrus it is 89 but we have seen it new for 60 pound. We are hoping to get one second hand though as i feel that 89 pound on one present that he may not even like is way to much.

We normally spend about 50 quid on our son in actually money (RPP lot more with bargain buys) and i feel thats more than enough for a 7 year old. My friend who is in debt up to her eyes in debt spends at least 150 gbp on each of her kids (3 kids) which really shocks me... Now she has started it they expect it.
