Do you spent EXACTLY the same amount on each of your children?

i have 3 (7,9,11) and concentrate on getting them the same amount of pressies rather than spending the same amount. it doesn't differ too much in value but i've never thought of topping one up and they don't see it that way either.0

Yes, or we would feel guilty!I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

Yes, pretty much. I also make sure they get the exact same amount of gifts.0

My parents were obsessed with spending the exact same amount on us kids. I remember once getting a roll of sellotape wrapped up just to make my presents up to the same amount as my sisters! My sister got a packet of biscuits one year for the same reason.

Parents! :rotfl:"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
I always said I would spend the same on my 4 but reality says I have found bargains, should I go by the RRP or the actual price I paid? If i go by the price I paid & i only managed to get 1 child it in the sale the other 3 might cost a lot more But on the other hand if i go by RRP i might not be able to afford what they actually want. Does that mean I shouldnt buy it even though it is in the sale at a price I can afford?
I now just buy them bits & pieces I know they will love. I don't worry about them having exactly the same amount of presents nor do I worry about the size of them, so long as they are all happy with what they receive then everything else is irrelevant.
This year 3 of my 4 needed new bikes. the price of each varied from £20 for the 2yr olds - £80 for the nearly 9 year olds. But i have treated them all as the same value. its the same present after all but due to sizes & things the older ones bike costs nearly 4xs the cost of the youngests.

Ie if I budgeted £50 for one child and got them 2 PS2 games that should have been £25 each but actually were half price, then I should say that's the £50 budget spent even though it only actually "cost" me £25. I felt this was unfair and I wanted to actually spend the same actual expenditure on each child not what everything should have cost. We still haven't reached agreement on this one
I had this same discussion with my Mum. She thinks I should put down what it should have cost. I think it's fairer to put down what I actually paid, especially since I never pay full price for anything and with some of the presents if I'd paid full price then I would soon be at my budget without much to show for it.
I asked at work what everyone else did and many other people had differences of opinion with their partners too!0 -
I have 4 children, they have a main present each, then a stocking. The stocking I try and keep about the same both in number of gifts and cost. The main gift depends on what they want/need. Our 8 year old needs a new bike, the 10 year old would like a playstation game, the 4 year old doesn't know and our 14 year old daughter would like an ipod. They have never bothered about someones gift costing more or less than their own, they are just happy to get what they asked for, thankgoodness.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

My 2 are 2 and 4 and i tend to buy one 'big' present then just smaller bits as and when i see them, like in sainsburys at the monet they've got these town and people set things reduced so i've bought the 2 yr old quite a few of these as for a large sets they're only £2.50!!!! whereas i've got DD nothing so far but i'll make it up nearer xmas with the girly stuffOther women want a boob job. In an ideal world it'd be great to spend the same.
So we don't.
I have boy of 7 - buy him a football and he'd be happy til next christmas.
And girl of 12 - that'd be iPOd, phone, DS lite, clothes, makeup, smellies, new DVD player ............ etc
We gave trying to spend the same money, instead we ensure he gets the few things that he really wants - but as long as they've both got roughly the sameamount of gifts then all is ok.
( Don't tell her but my daughter is not having everything on her list !)0
