    Of course I would not resign if I didn't have to. There weren't many other options other than dismissal. (I won't bore anyone with the politics of it all).
    I will say that I have been unindated with messages of support regarding this situation. From work colleagues and clients. (doesn't pay the mortgate i know)
    I wish I had been able to stay but as I said previously I have been made a scapegoat for a very big global company.
    Having taken legal advise. the best option for me was to resign in order to keep my good name intact.
    I wasn't aware however that this could effect my claim for JSA etc.
    I am very proud. I have remained dignified throughout this debacle.
    Not wishing to upset anyone but I have not been irresponsible at all. I have given 100%, been very honest and ultimately am only a pawn in someone elses game.

  • I know this isn't the point in your thread but you have obviously been aware for some time that your only option was to resign so you could have been looking for other work or at least check how this was going to affect your right to benefits and how this was going to affect your family with three young kids.

    I am not saying that it was irresponsible to leave your job as I don't know the ins and outs but it was irresponsible to not find out how your entitlement would be affected and how you are going to pay your mortgage. I assume that you have savings of some sort?

    Didn't think you were covered by this unless you've been in the job a year? I tried the same with the last place i worked (who basically fired me but said i resigned) but was told in no uncertain terms as i'd only been there 11 months i couldn't do anything.

    I know you say you've been working there for 3 months but this may apply to your case, if it does you need to mentino it to the adviser you see when you make your claim to benefit,

    Employment on Trial

    Normally if you leave a job voluntarily, without good cause, you lose entitlement to benefit. However, Employment on Trial allows you to leave a job and make a claim to Jobseekers Allowance without the reason for leaving affecting your entitlement to benefit.
    You must have been in the job:
    • for at least four weeks and one day
    • must have left before you complete 13 weeks
    • must have worked for more than 16 hours in each complete week
    If you are dismissed or leave the job because of misconduct you might still lose benefit.

    You should also consider that your occupational pension would be taken into account for any benefits you would be entitled to, including contributory based JSA.

    You may not have been irresponsible professionally but, as someone responsible for supporting at least 4 children (and a wife) I have to say that I do think that your actions have been irresponsible.

    However, I hope it works out for you but, unless you get another job quickly, things are likely to get very difficult financially, I'm afraid.

    As you get a pension of £8k you probably won't be entitled to any JSA - because even contribution based JSA is reduced by pension income. Unless there are special rules for forces pensions.

    You will however be entitled to child tax credit, are you not getting this already? If you are the amount will increase, phone and tell them your new circumstances and estimated income this tax year. If not claim now!

    My father's RAF pension was taken into account for his JSA (so he didn't get any just his stamp paid)
