I have just resigned from my job. (Causing me so much stress and worry).
We have 3 children at home (12, 4 and 1) I pay maintenance to my ex for my 17 yr old.
The only income coming into the house now is my £8K / Yr forces pension.
Am I entitled to claim anything?

You are entitled to claim JoibSeekers.....but are quite likely to be sanctioned for resigning from your last job.0

Who is 'we' (a partner ? ) ?
Why are you not getting child benefit ?
Do you own or rent ? If the former, is ther any mortgage to pay ?
Assuming you have paid a sufficent amount of NI contributions over the last coouple of years you would normally be entitled to contribution based JSA, -this could well be sanctioned for a number of weeks because by resigning you have intentionally made yourself unemployed , but you need to put in the claim right way (assuming that you are actually going to be looknig for another job) as any sanctions will only start to run from when you apply0 -
Thank you for your responses.
Sorry to be sketchy. We = My wife and I,
receive child benefit at present.
Never been unemployed in 30 years (Gulp!)
Resigned as it was the best option for me. (it keeps my good name intact). I was caught in the crossfire.:mad::mad: It is well recognised that I was a scapegoat. Unfortunatley I had only been with the company for 3 months.
I am actively looking for another job. Though don't expect to find work before Xmas.0 -
Sorry,
We have a mortgage to pay.0 -
is your partner working? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Any sanction you may be given (this could be for up to 26 weeks) will start from when you put in a claim, so you should do this straight away. You also need to tell tax credits that you are no longer employed and contact CSA or your ex (whichever's appropriate).
I'm sure you don't need anybody to comment on how irresponsible you've been - so I won't.0 -
Make a claim for JSA, it WILL be sanctioned for up to 6 months. After the 1st two weeks of sanctions you will be able to put in a claim for Hardship payments to cover the sanction period. (form JSA10)
Hardship payment is usually paid at a percentage of JSA entitlement, depending on individual circumstances.
If you have taken out any mortgage protection, ask the Jobcentre to give you an ABI1 form. They will fill these out on request.
Don't delay, sign on and seek further help and advice.
Good Luck0 -
