I notice that there is a Vodafone company representative who posts on this forum occasionally.

I wonder if the rep has any comments / advice to help ?

One extra tit-bit of information which I found enlightening during one of my unproductive phone conversations with the call centre was that when I asked the call center staff member for his name, he gave me his first name but he said : "I am not obliged to give you my Surname" - I did get an Id reference number for him tho. :wall:

If I were being cynical, I would conclude that some Vodafone staff are not comfortable working for Vodafone and do not want to be known as an employee of that company. Is this because they are not proud to work there and do they think that Vodafone treat their customers with respect ?

Sensible move. You can always get money back - plus expenses - from MCOL and I am sure he would be more worried by an unjust blot on his credit record.
From what I remember reading on the massive Vodafone 500mb FUP thread, if you dispute a bill they can take no action against you to recover the money until the matter is settled, so it could be worth disputing the bill?

Not going to take any risks, there are threads on here which show that in the past, Vodafone have set the debt collectors onto people on many occasions and without just cause. It seems the telecoms industry in general tend to adopt this adversarial approach with their customers.

I prefer to claim back money they owe rather than arguing about money they say we owe.

We finally managed to get my name authorised to speak on my Dad's behalf (Dad used the online chat facility while I talked him through the chat conversation with Vodafone)

I've just spoken to a very nice girl (lady) at Vodafone and she has now confirmed that when my Dad phoned up to inform Vodafone of his change of address, the Vodafone person changed him onto a new price plan with new term of 12 months (WHICH MY DAD WOULD NEVER HAVE WANTED OR AGREED TO) at the same time as changing the address.

So Vodafone are now going to retrieve the phone call recording and check what was said. They will write to my Dad with their findings.

With any luck, they will hear that the Vodafone rep has made a mistake and started a new price plan which was not asked for or agreed to. And I assume the Vodafone rep will receive the appropriate re-education to stop them doing this type of thing.

I won't say what I would like to do to them ;) but it would be more than re-educate :D for treating an 81 year old like this.

    Hi BAA1,

I am glad to hear that you have spoken an advisor at Vodafone who seems to be sorting this issue out for you.

I understand your frustrations with this matter. If you would like us to have a look into this further for you, you can email us here with WRT135 in the subject. We will be more than happy to find out what's happening.

As I am sure you can understand, when it comes to Data Protection we do have to be very cautious.

    Kind Regards,
